Training Personal Records

I really want to start videoing my lifts to get some feedback from you guys.

I don’t have access to decent coaches so there are probably multiple problems in my lifts.

I have found videoing my sparring to be really useful for BJJ and MMA. The problem is that I lift on my own and would definitely get some funny looks from people. Mind you they already give me funny looks for squating in the curl rack and doing cleans and snatches so what the hell.

Front Squat
255x2 +20lbs

Don’t do these often but they sure nail my abductors, heinie and vmo while going easy on my back. Just the ticket.

Deadlift - 305x8

Doing reps really really suck.
But I like’em.

Squatted 260kg/575lb x5 straps down and wraps yesterday; Squat - 260kg x5 - YouTube

They’re all pretty high, but I was amazed at how well I controlled the weight. The suit I was wearing is 3 competitions (and their training cycles!) old, and my wraps weren’t cranked down. Inspite of that, I did 12.5kg under my all time PR for 5 really easy reps. I’m confident that I coulda dunked them in and kept the same bar speed.

Gonna stick with that suit again next week, might go up 5kg and do it again before goign to my tighter suit the week after.

Already posted it in the T-Cell, but I’m pretty excited about it so 475 squat in a belt and wraps.

Deadlift 205kg x 2 raw at 91kg (451lb at 200lb for you imperialists.)

5kg more than my former 1rm. I have pulled 210kg before but that was with straps so I’m looking forward to beating that too without straps.

Sumo Deadlift
435x3 (PR weight +30)

I’m really starting to like these. Easy on the lower back. I’ll have to switch back to conventional soon, because that’s getting weaker now.

Not a training PR and I posted the video in another thread but…

2/28/09 - USPF PA State Championship

I lifted in the 242 open division, weighed in at 240 and probably lifted at 245-246.

Squats: 568, 618, 650
Bench: 463, 501(miss), 501
Deadlift: 518, 562, 600(miss)
Total = 1713

So 7/9 with 4 meet PRs (not really fair because it was my first full meet). I was happy that I came back and got 501 the second time. I would have been very pissed if I missed the 500 mark again.

Equipment used: Titan Super Centurion for squat and deadlift, Titan F6, APT Strangulator 2.5m knee wraps, APT Convict 36" wrist wrap, EFS 13mm power belt

banded pin press:
145x3,3,3,3 +10 pounds and one set
incline press
225x4 +1 rep

steel nation what thread is the video in?

BEAST!!

That’s awesome lifting. Are you gonna try and compete in Vegas?

What’s the Super Centurion like anyway?? It was only released quite recently right??

Squat
405x10

In a simulated meet ran a few weeks back I only got 405x1. I don’t know what happened between then and now but last night I got through ten right at parallel.

Reverse Band Box Squat

574 lbs x 1 PR at 220lbs.

@ Steel Nation - Great work. Impressive(Beastly) numbers.

@ Hanley - Looking real strong in your vids.

Thanks. I’m probably just going to go and watch Ryan lift at World’s though.

The Super Centurion is awesome. I don’t have anything to compare it to though because it’s the first single-ply suit I’ve worn, and mine needs some alterations before it fits right. But it definitely throws you back up if you sit back into it really hard. I need over 550 to break parallel in it with the straps up, and I really have to fight to get down.

I easily get 200+ lbs out of the suit and wraps.

Recent ones…

Log Press 215x5 PR+5lbs

Deadlift 495x1 PR+20lbs

11Pound Pr (306pound deadlift)

:frowning: This is what I got after two months of doing Get Huge in a Hurry by Waterbury. Time to ditch TBT and start building some lower body strength.

Any ideas how to building more starting strength off the floor? I’ve tried speed deadlifts for one month and it didn’t help much. Perhaps more front/back squats or goodmorning/GHR or deficit deadlifts? Thoughts?

here’s my maiden voyage into band usage. This next training cycle is going to include a ton of bands. i hope to see a big carryover to my competition lifts. here’s a baseline PR on reverse band bench. Maybe i should have started an entire thread with the title- “Raw Bench Press 585x3”

Did bench today max effort for first time in a while:

315 X 2 (PR), 335 X 1, 355 X 1 (PR+40lbs)

went up a lot, its been a very long time since i have dabbled in the 1RM zone and I was pleasantly surprised. Should have went for 365 after 335 as my spotter told me it looked like I could have done 2 reps.

Hah! Only if I get to start one for my reverse band pulls.

You’re such a beast. Thanks for all the videos. VERY inspirational.
