2x8 hanging leg raises, done without using no momentum at all, strict movement ftw

Few PR’s actually, pulled a totally raw 375 sumo deadlift (no belt), front squated an easy 225 (+20), and very strictly OHP’ed a not so easy 185. I’ve also decided my squat sucks, and shouldn’t be 10 lbs more than i can bench, so i’m going to give smolov a shot. any recommendations?
That overhead press is pretty good. Was that standing? Not many people have posted OH pressing more than their bodyweight - that I’ve seen, anyway. You still weighing 180?
Nice work.
Thanks! Yeah it was standing, i’m actually a little closer to 185 now, i’m at like 183/184 depending on the day, so it was bodyweight! Which has been a goal of mine for a while.
No video but I squatted 245 (at 121 body weight) last night training at a new club. The guys loaded the bar and didn’t tell me what was on it. The first attempt I wasn’t in the groove. I had them rerack and had an immediate do-over. It was heavy but I can go heavier I think.
This looks good for my next meet in two weeks ![]()
Benched 275 off a 2-board today.
haven’t squatted heavy in awhile. we’ve been getting ready for a push/pull meet so most of the squat days have been RE stuff.
decided to work up to some moderate weight on some paused squats. they actually felt very light and i felt like i could pause it for a long time. it’s good to know that the squat is still there.
600x2- paused at pins

…But when are you going to start lifting something heavy?
Squat
325x7 (+2 reps)
Anderson squat 4" below parallel
305x4,4 (+3 reps and +1 set)
my rear parts are somewhat fatigued now…
Last Sunday, I hit 260 kg (573 lbs) on squat in titan dual quad briefs & metal black wraps. First 3x body weight lift for me.

maybe next week i’ll hit a 700lb squat… just for you:)
This is an odd, non PL PR. 75 bodyweight chin ups in 15 minutes. 15 sets of 5 with 60 seconds between sets. I did sets until my final one was pretty dodgy.
bench cycle is going very well. i hit 455x3 touch and go tonight. should have had at least 4 but i let out my air at the end of the third and flattened out. i always preach to my guys to hold their breath for the entire set and then i go and screw up.
i also hit a 20lb PR for a 3 sets of 5 on the 4 board with 545.
good session and getting stronger.

Deadlift
420x6 (touch and go) baseline PR

thanks!! bench is finally moving.
Hit a new DL PR - 425lbs. It went up pretty smooth. I think I had a little too much time off between my heavy rack pulls and this lift. I’ll try for 435 in 3 weeks.
Here it is with a little extra footage from our Saturday training at Coach Staley’s Bed and Barbell.
Enjoy!
From our session dec 13th. just before a 2 week holiday break. Hit 545 from just over 2inches below knee. It was +120lb PR. The 545 is the second pull you see me do… the real slowwwww one. ![]()
Id only done rack pulls from here once before about 4.5 months ago before my first meet and squeeked out 425. Amazing how strength comes in waves sometimes…

I’m not a video type guy, and I’m new. Last Feb I set one true PR (Benched 350) and one pseudo PR (Deadlifted 500). I benched 350 shirted and sumoed 500 in my 20’s. I deadlifted 505 in a meet last July, I was impressed b/c it was outdoors, hot and I started to dehydrate.
Definitely not record breaking but not bad for a dude in his 40’s, with an arthritic knee, and took the last 10 years off of serious training to start a career and family.
I feel like I am will set new PR’s b/c I have been following a Sheiko routine, second time, and my lifts are becoming easier.
maine open iron bash meet? i did that one which was outdoors ha
lol. That was quite an experience. IDK why, but I never figured out that it was going to be outside until the day before. I learned not to wear all black and maybe like Chris Popovich, to wear sunglasses when benching. I thought I was going to go blind.
No meet in the immediate future. Yesterday was the Skill eval from the 5 week Sheiko.
Last competition squat was 455, I doubled it easy yesterday, and pushed my bench PR up to 355. I’m very happy b/c my training since July was very inconsistant
