Training Personal Records

tonight was a good night. no PR’s but i’m definitely on the verge of some huge ones. I typically warmup to 405 and then start my working sets on bench at 455. i hit 455 for 2 very easy reps. i decided to stop and hit 495. i hit that for a very easy 1 rep. next week i’m going to try 455 for 4 or 5 reps.

here are the vids of my whoredom.

I’m not a video type guy, and I’m new. Last Feb I set one true PR (Benched 350) and one pseudo PR (Deadlifted 500). I benched 350 shirted and sumoed 500 in my 20’s. I deadlifted 505 in a meet last July, I was impressed b/c it was outdoors, hot and I started to dehydrate.

Definitely not record breaking but not bad for a dude in his 40’s, with an arthritic knee, and took the last 10 years off of serious training to start a career and family.

I feel like I am will set new PR’s b/c I have been following a Sheiko routine, second time, and my lifts are becoming easier.
maine open iron bash meet? i did that one which was outdoors ha

got a question for anyone out there- under armour compression shorts- does that count as gear?
No.

Rack pull/just below knee

strapped/beltless

335 x3 …was only shooting for 2 , which
would have been a 2RM PR !

365x1…last time I tried this I didnt
even crack it from the pins .

High Anderson Squat
4" above ||
415x1 (+50lb)
385x3 (+20lb and 2 rep)

Been a while since I’ve done 'em…

I hit a couple new-for-the-year PR’s tonight (you’ll start to take a PR any way you can when you start to feel Father Time catching up to you) starting with a 105kg Power Snatch and a 135kg Power Clean&Jerk, with another PR there with a 140kg lift. Here’s an attempt at showing the 135kg lift…
seriously strong…

The power snatch is even more impressive!

370x1 Deadlift 5lb PR.
I tried 390 and it was glued to the floor. I think I just lost the groove because I was fatigued. I want 400 soo fucking bad!!!

you will get there no worries

Thanks Hanley and Skidmark! I must say I did have some unexpected motivation that night when my 52-year old training partner also powercleaned 135kg! I didn’t care that I had just done that lift two nights earlier, I wasn’t gonna let a guy two years younger than my DAD outlift me in anything! Not going to happen!

I dont have any of the huge numbers
that plenty of folks are putting up…

But on Monday night I snatch grip deadlifted 365 for a double.
I am just under 175 lbs

Nice work kmcnyc.

A PR is a PR. PERSONAL record. How much it is doesn’t matter so long as it’s more than you’ve done before, in my opinion.

I think meat started this thread so we could all get into the mindset of beating previous bests, if we aren’t already there.

hello again,

i deadlifted 405 conventional today! i’m very happy, it felt smooth… watch out 455.

BW is still 168-9, goal is 1050 raw total in three months.

Cool! A month ahead of schedule, too!

Few PR’s actually, pulled a totally raw 375 sumo deadlift (no belt), front squated an easy 225 (+20), and very strictly OHP’ed a not so easy 185. I’ve also decided my squat sucks, and shouldn’t be 10 lbs more than i can bench, so i’m going to give smolov a shot. any recommendations?

pulled 455 sumo on Tuesday… gunning for the 5 plates.

also did 190 (95 lb dumbbells) bulgarian split squats for 10 reps each leg after squats tonight. Haven’t seen much carry over directly to squat, but they definitely take it out of my legs. Hopefully I’ll see some soon. Anyone else have any experience with these and their carry over?

sumo deadlift 110kgx3

3-Board Press 215 x 3 Weight and Rep PR
BB Row 160x5 Weight and Rep PR

That overhead press is pretty good. Was that standing? Not many people have posted OH pressing more than their bodyweight - that I’ve seen, anyway. You still weighing 180?

Nice work.

They don’t do much for me directly in the squat, but do seem to help my hip flexibility and health. That said - I haven’t done them for a year or more.

Bench Press
230x6 (+5 lbs or +1 rep)
