Training Personal Records - Part 2

Marauder man you are a beast! Very nice progress. Maybe I should eat more so I don’t have to compete against you in the 259# class? haha

I look forward to meeting you at the competition as well. This is my first one, so yeah, I have a lot of questions and I’ve kind of been dicking off in preparing for it (aside from lifting as heavy as I can, of course). I planned on taking these next few weeks I have off work and spending some time figuring out what I’m actually going to do to prepare.

Thanks for the offer though. I’ll definitely take you up on that. Stay strong brother.

Damn dude, nice work! You are right there getting to 500.

trying out my new briefs yesterday… my PR squat is 917 in the gym, but with someone I trust watching depth… with my new briefs under my suit I took 957 yesterday but wimped out and cut it ~1.5" high… came up easy I just got intimidated by the weight and wimped out…

Standing OHP
190x1 (+2.5lbs)
170x5 (+2 reps)

Sumo DL
475x1 (+5lbs)
495x1 (+25lbs)

BB Curl
135x5 (+1 rep)

200lbs Bodyweight (+5 lbs)

I kinda wanna join in since I haven’t kept an official training log since my hip flexor injury in August.

My #'s won’t be shit compared to anyone else… but oh well.

Bench “5” day on 5/3/1
180x9

Hit two more PR’s this week in Bench and Deadlift

Bench: 280x8 (355 estimated 1RM [+7 lbs])
Felt like I could have pushed 9; was feeling really good that day. Glad I didn’t as my shoulder was really sore for a few days after (injury sore, not muscle sore). It seems to be all good now though.

Deadlift: 370x8 (469 estimated 1RM [+7 lbs])
Definitely had another rep in the tank here, but nearly puked at the end of the set from pulling the PR, so I stopped there. Should be able to pull higher weight at same rep (hopefully!).

Deload coming up this week, which really sucks because I feel like I’m in the zone, but definitely gonna be gettin after it after the new year!

Don’t let that stop you from posting man! Everybody starts somewhere. Nice job on the PR!

bench PR - 200x3 (10lb PR) *first 200 pound bench!
squat PR - 235x3 (10lb PR) went up pretty easy
deadlift PR - 315x2 (+1 rep PR)
Did this all in one day but I probably could have got another rep on DL if I hadnt squatted before but oh well! I still got a long ways to go before I am even close to half the guys in this thread!

this week is a deload (of sorts) for me. I’m doing a bench meet next weekend. I’m in upstate NY with the family for the holidays so i decided to go into a commercial gym to do some bench.

i worked up to 405 for 3 sets of 10 reps. no liftoff or spot. this was definitely a rep PR for sets.

Meat if that is your child she is lovely(after the mom i guess :))
and 405 for 10!!

I did 180kg x6 today on DL

yeah… that’s my little one. she definitely takes after her mother but she definitely has my temper.

was that a rep PR for you or a weight PR?

Test day for the 13 week sheiko program today.

Squat 405 PR +20 Less than expected, but good to break 400.

Bench 300 PR +25 Whoo! First 300 pound bench always exciting for everyone I think. It went up pretty well so I jumped for 3 plates, it wasn’t there.

Absolutely nothing to report on deadlift, still stuck at 405, I attempted 415 three times and each time I got it a little higher, but never got it to my knees. When I deadlift if it gets past my knees I am standing up with it right away, unfortunately it just wasn’t there today, huge disappointment.

Looks like a huge success to me, congratulations! Basically you found out that high volume, low intensity works for two of the three lifts. Just have to find a better approach for you for deadlift, that’s all. If you can post some video of your technique.

Did you do all your bench work with a pause or not? Did you use your actual max or add to it? Any and all details in regard to how you did bench would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks man. Before Sheiko the best bench I had achieved was 275, and I failed at 285, however I felt like the strength was either there or almost there for me to get that 285 so I used that as my training max. Also, for the final 3 weeks, after the skills eval. day, I upped my bench max to 300 because the weights just flew up on that day.

I did not pause at all throughout the program, although when I failed at 315, I failed an inch off the chest, I feel if I bring my starting strength up that 315 will be mine soon. Also relevant to your question, you can see in my log I added a fourth day for assistance, where I would do a rowing movement, a vertical pulling movement, a shoulder movement (some kind of raise), and some curls. It feels really good to finally be a 300 pound bencher!

Squat
Missed 405 barely, I will get it next time. It is a form problem not a strength problem
345x5 (+2 reps or +20 lbs)

Good Mornings to parallel
295x5 (+10 lbs)

Hepburn Cheat Rows
285 3x3 (+5 lbs +2 sets)

Fucking congrats man. 405 Squat and a 300lb bench? I’ll take that any fucking day of the week. So do you think 305 or 310 is there?

Damn I really want to give Sheiko a try. I just can’t get past that mental barrier of low percentages

Again great job man, really proud of you. Once you get started again your Deadlift will sky rocket
