Training Personal Records - Part 2

the reverse band squat cycle really paid off. we are doing front squats as a second movement on dead/squat day. I haven’t done them as a full ROM movement without a pause in a long time. i worked up to 405 tonight. the weight felt like nothing on my shoulders and i had a ton of explosive power at the top. the bar actually came off my shoulders at the top. using the stretch reflex felt like cheating.

front squat- 405 x 4

Looks like the training is going great meat, that good to see! Also it is good to see the goat back on your face, you just didn’t look as strong without it.

Do you have a full meet planned anytime soon?

thank you.

training is going really well. the goat is the source of power that all things revolve around. besides, my face looks much better covered up with hair.

if all goes well, i have 4 sanctioned and one non sanctioned meet this coming year. the first is a nonsanctioned bench only meet. then there’s two SPF meets here in VA… can’t miss those and an IPA va. state meet. my plans are to do the bench only, then a push/pull and hit full meets for the last two.

I just need to stay healthy. I feel like i’ve turned the corner on that though. I’m cycling my training better instead of sticking with lifts too long. I’m also doing all the things that i hate to do, so that must be a good thing. plus, i’m getting stronger while dropping weight. at my heaviest, i’ve weighed in the 290’s. right now i’m sitting at 255. I feel strong and healthy. who could ask for more.

thanks for the interest.

Keep up the good work, that front squat looked incredible.

Question for you MM, the week of a meet how do you change your workout, or do you even change it at all? And whats your diet look like the day of a meet? Do you bring along a bunch of food, just some shakes, or what?

i don’t typically train the week of a meet. i may work up to openers two weeks out but that’s about it.

the day of a meet, i always get up early and get a big breakfast… eggs, pancakes, bacon,… the works. as for at the meet. i keep a cooler filled with bagels and a jar of peanut butter, bananas, fig newtons and gatorade.

thanks again.

Congratulations bud

405x6 DL. The camera guy started it a little late(end of the 2nd rep). So only the last 4 are shown, but I got it!

Hows about you grip it like a real man pussy!

Just kidding looks easy as fuck, that paused bench with your feet up on the deck was taking the piss!

Bench 385

I’ve gotten 385 before but I got a good pause on this one.

Please excuse my gratuitous exposure of man stomach.[/quote]

Awesome!

there’s the problem… i can’t grip it. stumpy t-rex arms make that impossible.

never heard that phrase “was taking the piss” i’m assuming that’s a good thing… thanks.

Wow MM. All these PR’s and at 40lbs less in bodyweight. I’d say what you are doing is working.

I think I hit a PR yesterday. 340/hand farmers walk for 60ft. Pickup was ultra high but the run was solid. Could def hang on to more.

Monopoly

It means it looked like you where just doing it as a joke, so yes I’d say it was a good thing.

Been a while, but…

Squat:
365 X 5

bearshark, you look like you could be my brother…

420lb Sumo DL @ 166lb body weight. I have done a little more as a true PR, but I’ve never pulled this much at this weight.

Just deadlifted 440lbs. The last time I maxed out was about 2 months ago, and I got 385 then. I know it’s not much by some people’s standards, but I’m stoked

you damn well should be stoked, awesome work!

A PR is a PR and needs no apology.
