Too Much Sleep = Decreased Performance?

If you workout on the day following a 12-hour sleep bender, have you noticed a decrease in performance?

How the hell do you manage to get 12 hrs sleep?

I’d imagine it would depend on if you need those 12 hours of sleep. If you’re playing catch up from a lack of sleep on previous nights, I’d imagine it could be helpful. But if you oversleep when you don’t really need it, I’d imagine that you may end up feeling pretty lethargic. I know I’ve experienced both outcomes.

Edit: OP - how old are you? That could also be a factor. A growing teenager obviously has different sleep needs than someone else.

Oversleeping makes me feel like a walking turd.

So, yes.

Too much sleep makes it harder for me to get going…so if I know it’s gonna be a heavy day…I’ll do a bit more warm up at a higher intensity.

Sometimes that still doesn’t work.

In summer I was sleeping 8-10 hours, during school usually 6. In both cases I feel the same energy. Over sleeping is bad for you, I find it hard to sleep 12 hours daily if I’m not sick or was drinking the night before.

Once in a while 12 hour sleep in is not going to hurt your gains though. It would screw up some meals that you should have been eating though.

If you make sure you are eating enough when you are awake, then 8+ hours of sleep will be very beneficial for you if you want to gain strength very quickly.BTW, sleeping a lot is a sign of high testosterone.

Really?
If i get less than 10 hours of sleep i feel very tired.

more than 9 and it takes half the day for me to wake up, unless i’m getting those 9 hours after some sleep deprivation the nights before

Too much sleep turns me into a turtle. I am trying to find that “sweet spot” of sleep again.
