Good job not turning a small miss communication into a interweb flame war. This is why I enjoy the over 35 section, people with common sense!

Sorry to hear about the knee…

To pushmepullme, I am a huge lurker here, just reading what great stuff people have to say. But I gotta say from your posts and pics in the other forum, along with the OU tatooed on your ass, I love you

Ok folks here is the update. I said screw it and went and talked to my new PCP. I have more faith in her because of her background than any ‘sports med orthopod’. She says first off, for healthy to somewhat healhty knees the bullshit put out there by other docs is just that, bullshit in regards to squats. Now for someone in my case with bone on bone already started on the patella…no squats. The shear forces on the patella with weight on my back doing squats will cause me to need at least a partial replacement sooner than later.

BUT!! For my goals that is ok. I can pull all I want, deadlifts, hang cleans, hang snatches, I can bench, press etc. I can also for additional direct leg work pull, push, drag a weighted sled because the knee never hits the 90 degree angle. Now without weights, sure squat down and do normal stuff.

Now before you say my doc is full of it, take a look…I think she is qualified to give me this advice. Click on link (and no you aren’t getting rick rolled…)

Is it painful when you squat down?
