Hey lipo if you are out there I was wondering if you could answer some questions I have about plasic surgery. First i’m 19 an used to be obese. i’m planning on getting an abdomnioplasty, I know this tightens the loose skin back up, but does it also involve fat cell removal (my consultation was 8 months ago and i’ve been saving up ever since I went)? Also are you able to eat hypercalorically after the procedure in order to put on muscle mass(assuming one was to eat super strict …which I do)without messing up the effects of the surgery. Also did you go in aslean as possible? the doc said he might be able to perform a mini instead of the full one which would cut down on cost an scar size. Thanks for any help you can give, Mike
I haven’t had a tuck (only lipo) but I’m looking into it (or at least a mini). My 1 year checkup is Thursday. When I had the lipo my total bodyfat was about the same as it is now (~22#) but my bf% was higher because I’ve gained some decent lean mass since then. So ‘no’ I wasn’t as lean as possible. At the time of the surgery my abs were so underdeveloped that post surgery the area between my pelvis and ribs was concave! The section of skin that is removed takes the underlying fat with it. Otherwise your would end up with a ring like bulge. I didn’t notice any real difference training post surgery and I think my very 1st post on T-Mag asked whether the disruption of the blood vessels in the region would make loosing fat harder. Its still hard to tell. Now after a year I still have some loose skin. Its slightly loose in the lumbar area and between my naval (looks like a horizonal slit) and my sternum. This makes my lower abs look better than my uppers. I feel for you man. I hate the thought of that scar but you’ll heal better than me (I’m 37). If you have any q’s you want me to ask my doc let me know soon.
Thanks alot Lipo…I really appreciate your help and I can’t wait to get this thing done…it may sound a bit vain…but the psychological effects of this skin and coupling that with hard work is really fucking up life for me . I was wondering how long it was until you became active again…and when did your strength levels return in the gym. Also you said they remove the fat with the skin. This means I wil pretty much get a fresh startor close to it) in my abdomen?I think they tightenthe abdominal muscles also correct. i have very good abdominal development its just hard to tell with the skin. I am currently bulking up right now(super strict though) I was wondering if you could ask your doc if i should go on a fat loss cycle before going to see my surgeon for a re evaluation and if it would also be a good idea to be lean for surgery. Last question is will I be able to eat to gain muscle afte surgery orwill that have negative effect on the results of my surgery.Oh yeah and how about for you…was it worth it? thank you so much for your help…and keep me updated on what you do personally too. Thanks alot Mike
Mike… You’re very welcome. I’ll ask my doc the questions you gave me. Personally I was back in the gym in just 2 weeks but I was supposed to be out for 6. Recovery for your procedure is going to take longer. As far as tightening the muscles…do you need that? I’d just opt for the skin reduction portion. Yeah, my surgery was worth it. But its not perfect. I’ve worked my ass off and made good progress but still suffer from body dysmorphia; still feel like a slob at 12%bf; still won’t take off my shirt in public. Good luck.
Mike - Talked to my doc today. He advised that recovery from abdominoplasty requires a minimum of two months (no gym). Major blood vessels that supply the skin below the cut are severed and if they don’t heal the skin can die. I asked about my own condition and he told me what could be done (mini tuck) but he didn’t want to do it. Having lipo again would only yeild maybe 400cc(~1#) so its not worth it to me. I’m probably going to check out another doctor. I’d like to see Nadler in NY. And of course I’m searching for alternatives. Later.
Ok Lipo…thanks for the info I appreciate it…I was actually thinking of seeing Naler ut i don’t beleivehe performs abdomnioplasty…tahnks again…mike
