Hah yeah exactly. I know it’s possible because tons of people have run it, it just sounds so intense.
@boilerman Dude this is very random but it’s so fascinating finding out about different positions you never would have thought of.
Isn’t so weird how they’re subcontractors for escalators, elevators, and walkways. You never hear of these ever. Construction is so vast lol.
Yeah man, just think about how many sub-specialties there are as well. There may be an elevator installer that specializes in wire and pulley systems, and one that specializes in hydraulic. Same with flooring… Tile, wood, laminate… Roofing… Asphalt/architectural, rubber and torch down, metal etc…
Heating is pretty specialized too, oil fired furnaces, boilers, gas fired, high pressure steam, low pressure steam, vari-vac, heat pump… Then control systems… There are so many haha.
After today I would have officially made it a week without buying or eating fast food.
I’m so glad this semester is almost over. I accomplished almost everything I wanted to during this semester. My classes are just driving me nuts now lol.
Accomplished Goals

Setting up my student org event idea for the spring. (Just found out last week it is happening and I am excited to work with my buddy who’s already in the construction industry with setting it up)
-
Obtaining a winter internship (I got email proof from my buddy’s VP that I’m SUPPOSED to be getting a second interview but I haven’t heard anything. I contacted my buddy today about that. It’s ok if I don’t get one but I want a crap load of experience before graduating.
-
Running Deep Water Beginner and Intermediate for another round
This is big dude. Keep the streak going.
Great job! You’re killing it!
@T3hPwnisher Thanks a lot Pwn, I make it a habit to set a bunch of goals for myself. Being an ambitious individual, setting goals makes life fun for me.
@anna_5588 Thanks Anna! I am most definitely killing it!!
I really do want that winter internship. The winter breaks at my school are kinda long. Like I said, I want all the experience I need as well as extra money to pay for food.
Literally 1 pound of canned chicken along with 1 pound of canned salmon. It’s sprinkled with everything bagel seasoning. If I put Buffalo sauce on this I think I would throw up so the bagel seasoning was the best choice.
Ok I seriously need to do my homework now, I have been procrastinating a lot.
@flappinit @T3hPwnisher @cstan097
In a professional/work setting do you guys talk very little about your personal life, beliefs, and opinions? Or are you open to sharing everything?
If anything I would only really talk about books, TV, movies, and work related stuff. I don’t see myself being friends with anyone in a work setting, only acquaintances. But then again @flappinit didn’t you meet your wife at work or something like that? Where is the line drawn when it comes to being more open or not In that setting?
You gotta be able to read the room. There isn’t one single approach.

So this was much better than the last deadlift session. Unfortunately, it wasn’t a perfect set but I gave it my all. On the” ish” sets and the last set….idk how to explain it but my pecs just felt kinda stretchy in a painful way. Typically I just bang em out (lift the bar then reset to the deadlift position quickly then lift again) but when I would get that feeling in my pecs I decided to do it a little more slow and I kinda lost count of the reps. Definitely don’t plan on increasing the weight, I think I’ll be able to handle it even better next session.
Life Update:
Deep Water eating has been phenomenal and I am very proud of myself for keeping up with the diet. It is a pain in the butt when I have to eat around classes and such. It’s still a pain getting in meals on Tuesdays and Wednesdays because I have a night class on both days as well as classes throughout the morning and afternoon. There was also an opportunity for me to speak at a college fair at some design/architecture high school. I did my best at selling the construction management program at my school even though the people who came to my table were interested in architecture and interior design. There really wasn’t much for me to say about the program as far as classes are concerned but I did mention my personal experiences so I’m sure that helped. Chairperson of my major gave me his hard hat that he keeps in his office as a gift and, without a doubt this is one of the best gifts I have ever gotten.
Life Update cont:
As much as I want to only binge watch Star Wars Clone Wars, it would be beneficial if I started reading again. I don’t quite have a concrete list of books I want to read but, I plan on reading books based on self-improvement. Definitely going to check out some of the books that were recommended to me on this forum as well (I really like how I screenshotted posts that included book recommendations on my IPad, very resourceful). As of right now I’m reading a book called The Worry Trick. The book goes over how a an anxious mind thinks and some tricks to combat the continuous cycle of worrying. I plan on reading this book 10-15 times so I can actually retain that information. After this I think I’ll continue to read How to Be a 3% Man, Winning the Heart of the Woman of Your Dreams, I’ve read it 6 times and you’re supposed to read it like 10-15 times so you can apply what you’ve read effectively. After reading it 6 times it has definitely had a positive effect on my way of thinking.
Random Thoughts:
Any Joe Schmoe would assume I would have some kind of great mental awakening from some academic task. A little bizarre that I seem to learn life lessons through strength training. My mindset when it comes to my training has become healthier and a lot more positive. What I’m getting at is that I should be applying that to everywhere in my life! Sometimes I’ll belittle myself and only think of my shortcomings rather than my achievements. I figured that reading books and applying them to my thinking would help me reach my full potential. This is the time to reach my full potential and shape myself into the man I want to be. (Most definitely going to read books about leadership and leadership styles).
Jeez man, haha. That’s a lot.
I try very hard not to get too deep into things that are based upon my personal opinion or preferences like philosophy or politics but to be honest I don’t like talking about those kinds of things much anyways so that might be why. I also feel weird about making “friends” at work. I just think that there should be boundaries but you gotta find your own way and like @T3hPwnisher said learn to read the room. I just don’t like to do it. That being said I let people know quite a bit about me personally but in a way that I don’t think gives away anything. For instance I let it be known at work that I have a severe mental illness so that I can try to break the stigma people seem to have and also so people understand if I can’t do certain things or if I have to take leave for a week or two unexpectedly but I would never let them know the things my wife or friends know.
What Pwn said.
Also depends on where you work. Some jobs you’d never want a friend from. Some jobs you’d go crazy if you didn’t have a friend on the job. Some jobs, like the military, you have no choice but to form friendships after going through stuff with people.
And then, within those jobs, there are the people you don’t want to talk to, and there are the people you can, depending on who you are and how open of a person you can be, share your personal life with.
One of the guys I work with is twice my age and on the complete opposite side of the political aisle from me (or, me being relatively centrist, he’s at one extreme end), and he is the first emergency contact at my school that would get my kids if anything happened to me. We know each other’s family history, down to the nitty gritty. The other guy I work with who’s about my age and about to become a young dad, and shares a few other similarities with me, I barely speak to, and don’t want to.
