Titan Tim Tackling his Twenties

I want to consume large amounts of food from Five Guys right now. I am not going to but I could really go for some right now.

This is great advice but it can be hard for some people. I think the old saying of you have 2 ears and 1 mouth is always a good principle to stick to in most situations.

Found out today I am getting that second interview for a possible winter internship. Also me and my buddy started tackling that awesome student org event idea for the spring. Second lifting session of week 4 will be most likely be tomorrow. It’s about rush hour right now and I can’t seem to find the mental strength to deal with that going to the gym, which is why I typically go early. My buddy got caught up with work so our zoom meeting started about an hour later than as we planned initially.

I always thought beginner flew by and intermediate felt like purgatory. It just goes on forever.

Dude I would be lying if I said that I wasn’t getting tired of Deep Water at the moment. I know somewhere out there in the different dimension, there is a tlgains who will run Super Squats after the second run of Deep Water Intermediate. Not gonna be me cause I could use a break from hard programs. Good thing Mr.Pwn (@T3hPwnisher) recommended I run 5/3/1 with FSL widowmakers after intermediate. The squats and deadlifts are always dreadful. It always feels like garbage for the first couple of sets.

Negative: I only shared what I did/would do. I don’t make recommendations outside of VERY limited circumstances.

135 lbs x 10

135 lbs x 10

135 lbs x 10

135 lbs x 10

135 lbs x 8

135 lbs x 10ish (last 3 reps didn’t count as a lockout lol I struggled)

130 lbs x 10

130 lbs x 10

Barbell Curl

95 lbs x 10

95 lbs x 10

95 lbs x 10

95 lbs x 10

95 lbs x 10

Dumbbell Lateral Raises

Used 20 lb dumbbells and did like 50+ reps

Sit ups 3 sets 20 reps

Gym doesn’t have back extension machine for some reason

Next week I’ll just go back to 130 lbs for press, no sense in screwing around with 135 since I’ll reach it eventually. After the gym I did a little shopping.

2 jugs of milk
2 lbs of bacon
108 eggs
2 lbs of cooked shrimp
4 lbs of ribeye steaks
2 tubs of cream cheese
1 container of minced garlic
1 container of thyme leaves
1 pack of unsalted butter

I still have quite a ton of food at my apartment. I’m just sick of eating canned chicken, tuna, or salmon for breakfast. Variety is definitely key to developing good eating habits. Unfortunately it looks like one of my milk jugs I bought 2 weeks ago is to expire 11/9 so I might do GOMAD for a day lol.

These are typically more fuzzy suggestions. Give it the sniff test. Milk will let you know pretty quick when it goes bad.

Oh yeah I also did 20 minutes of the stairmaster today (medium intensity)

I think my quality of sleep is making me irritable. Because of all the eating and other life stuff, I always finish eating my meals by nighttime. Ever since Deep Water I drink soooo much water which is a good thing but a nuisance during the night. I can’t remember the last time I slept where I didn’t have to wake up in the middle of the night to piss. Just thinking about it makes me very very angry.

That’s a pretty alarming response, I’m not going to lie. You may want to look into that.

As someone who has had limited and broken sleep since 2010, the best I can offer is that, from my experience, it’s survivable and still allows for solid muscular growth. But it’s an adaptation process. And I love me some caffeine.

I drastically exaggerated with the very very angry part. It’s just a nuisance and I don’t like the way my eyes feel in the morning. I suppose it has actually become kinda normal.

Besides that Mr.Pwn, I saw ur buddy Chong Lord’s post this morning and I watched one of your rant videos. The one titled ā€œThere will be no survivorsā€ I’m trying to understand the main point you’re getting across. Are you saying ā€œIf I’m training in a way that’s out of the ordinary and it’s making me stronger, I will keep doing itā€ or is something more general like ā€œsuccessful people go outside of the boxā€ or both

You’ll have to keep in mind: it’s a rant video. There’s no main point. I didn’t have a script I was working off of: it was whatever came off the top of my head at that moment. Something to appreciate from that video (as someone interested in public speaking) is that I endeavored to have no verbal pauses during that, despite it being entirely ad libbed. No ā€œumsā€ ā€œuhsā€ ā€œya knowsā€, etc.

I mean considering that I will run Super Squats down the road after I’m done with Deep Water, you might be able to figure out my plan. Regardless I’ll just say it here, I want to run every single hard program out there. It’ll be a pain but I’ll definitely get some good results. Way too early to be figuring out what to do after I run all those programs I listed in my log but, running every hard program seems painfully fun.

It’s a rather long story but I did crush that interview indeed. Unfortunately I did not get the outcome I wanted. Winter internships are 3-4 weeks and they only squeeze interns in on special occasions. Also you have to have already worked a summer internship with them. The interviewer was a Vice President and they said if ā€œcompany I’m working for this summerā€ doesn’t work our for you then keep in touch. She also told me to shoot her an email in the fall of next year if I want to intern there.

Sorry to hear the internship didn’t work out, but that’s great news from the VP! I would definitely stay in contact and try to build a relationship. Whether or not it actually leads to something isn’t completely the point, but it’s good to learn how to develop (and actually develop) your professional network especially when you’re young.
