Not peaking yet, but I did stumble on a local meet coming up soon. May 30th at UNLV. Get to test how things are going earlier than I thought.
5/17 Throwing
Shot: 5 stands to ~12.25m, 5 half spins to ~14.5m 27 full throws to ~15.5m worked on two things, trying to get my right foot further across the ring (I was giving up about 20cm on that thing alone), and as last week, delaying the arm strike so that I stay in double support longer. This week, my furthest throws came when I was moderately successful at this.
Discus: 2 stands, 18 full throws to ~46.75m. The furthest throws came when I was only going about 85-90%. I was able to work the double support better while going slower.
Hammer: 2 one turn throws to ~41m, 2 two turn throws to ~44m, 20 3 turn throws to ~ 47.75m. was working on my counter and keeping my left foot down. Succeeded twice. (I think, will have to see the video to make sure.)
“Sprints”: 5x50m
That drained me. It was over 100 degress by the time I quit. I forgot how much that takes out of you.
Snatch: 60/2, 67.5/2, 75/2, 82.5/2, (90/2)4 Missed 2nd rep on set 2 (Behind) and 1st rep on set 3 (Front)
Nailed last set.
Squat: 90/3, 105/3, (120/3)4
Snatch High Pulls: (100/3)4 Very Sharp
Jump Squats: (40/6)4
Lost focus from time to time during the snatches, don’t mind missing behind so much, its good to know the shoulders will still do that. Was coming up on my heels prematurely on the misses and a few of the others.
Worked on that with the high pulls and seemed to get it down. The weights didn’t feel light, but not heavy either.

shoot 50 meter sprints in 100 degree heat (but it’s a “dry heat” lol) will take the stuffing out of anyone and yours were on top of throwing - nice
I’m kicked out of my gym for the rest of the week while they do some repairs, so I’m not doing anything that requires more than just my bar, weights, and squat stands.
Struggled some today, nothing felt light. The last set of jerks were very nice though, good positions and depth on the split.
Here’s two of the better shot throws from Sunday. It always astounds me how little of what I’m trying to do actually gets done. Its amazing the throws go anywhere at all. I didn’t realize until I saw the video that I stepped on the edge of the ring.
Snatch: 60/2, 67.5/3, 75/2, 82.5/2, (90/2)4 Missed second rep of the last set so did a third and got it.
Squats: 90/3, 105/3, (120/3)4 Easier today
Snatch Dead Lift: (105/5)3 Good positions on most of them
Weights still felt heavy. Recovery week coming up.
Shot: 5 stands, 5 half spins to warm up, 23 full throws to ~14.3m. Was trying something new with my right foot coming out of the back, keeping it turned to the outside as my right leg comes around. It seems to help with getting the right foot to turn in the middle, and speed of the left to the front. No good distances to show for it yet however.
Weight (25lb): 5 one turn throws to ~17.1m, 10 two turn throws to ~18.75m, 10 three turn throws to ~18m. Still not countering enough, the best two turn throw had the best counter and lots of speed, but no height off the release. Might be able to get 20m out of these if I get that worked out. I guess I was getting tired by the three turn throws, couldn’t get good balance or timing on any of them.
Weight (56lb): 7 one turn throws to ~7m, 3 two turn throws to ~7.5m. Been a while since I’ve thrown that monster. I knew, but forgot anyway how slow it moves.
Sprints: 3.5x50m Felt a cramp in my thigh halfway through the 4th one. Called it quits rather than set myself back a few weeks.

Carl after I picked myself up off the floor, … "congrats " …you do realise the WR is only 21m,
and yes if you specialised you would get pretty close, kind of scary for a little guy…(goes right back to that comment I made about the three top combined lifters throwers when I first posted on your thread…)
and regarding the 56, you mean it is supposed to move faster than the 25, hmmm I may have found one of my problems here…
Terry, I think the world record is 22.52 by Vasilis Maganas back in 2004. The US record is whatever Ken Jansson does this year, currently 20.95. And by slow, I mean there is serious time to do other things during a two turn throw with the 56lb weight. I once proved a math theorem waiting for the throw to finish.
Shot: The usual, 5 standing throws and 5 half spins to warm up, 21 full throws to ~15.85m. Best day this year so far, my thigh was still feeling tweeky from the sprints on Saturday, so I couldn’t do the foot turned out thing (Maybe that’s why the thigh got tweeked in the first place), so instead moved on to the next thing in a long list, getting my chest stupidly high at the release. This turned out to be easy to do, so did the next, trying to develope torque upon landing the left foot in the front by dropping the left arm and leaving it there as I work the feet in the middle. The combination of the two worked wonders, with a season pb, and 5 throws over 15.5m. Can’t wait to see what happens when I can combine these with the foot thing from Saturday.
Discus: 16 full throws to ~49.5m, again a season pb. Was working on “holding the x” throughout the throw.
Hammer: 25 throws to ~46m, not too impressive today. I was able to keep my left down better, almost every time by the end of the session. Was still able to hit 45m on the last throw just by concentrating on the feet.
