great effort…if I could figure out a way to snatch just the empty bar. Seriously, I need to learn the O lifts.
Thanks formfunction. It would have been easy to let it drop. If you really do start with o-lifts, drop snatches with just the bar are a good place to start.

Clean and Jerk: 62.5/2, 75/2, 87.5/2, 100/1, 110/1, 115/1, 120/1, 125/1, 130/1, 132.5/1, 135/1 (no jerk attempt on the last two.)
That’s all I had time for with all the Christmas stuff going on here at school.

That’s the end of this cycle. Snatch and Clean and Jerk both went up 5kg, everything else except presses are up 2.5kg. I have two weeks to get ready for the January 3rd contest. I’ll go very light next week, then hit 3-5 heavy singles (90-95%) at the beginning of the following week.

Your pull speed through the second pull looks like you are not near your max, but I think you mentioned before how under rated the speed / movement required to get under is.

Terry, there’s not much point in doing that. I’m probably going to be a few kilos over the weight class limit in January and world records only count a certain meets, nationals, pan ams, or worlds. Among other things I think it has to do with drug testing.
I might try a 116 anyway, depends on how the second attempt goes. What’s holding me back now on the snatches is mostly bar position. If i can keep it close enough, I think I can get a 115 or 116 right now.

Lifting is looking really good!!! I have been on the same program as you, with the exception of removing the middle day for time reasons and recovery. This last week of the second cycle has killed me. Legs are down and traps are really sore today. Will take a little easier today and tomorrow. My next meet is Jan 17-18, TX state meet, then I will try and prepare for National Masters. Hope to meet you there!!

olylifter106, being sore and run down at the end of one of those four week blocks is normal, strength being down during the 4th week is not. If it is taxing your recovery, you could cut back on the volume in week 1 and especially week 2.

Kinda missed the hang snatch at 85, I needed two more feet of platform to finish standing up. Tired, slow, and sore from last week’s maxes. Should be better by the end of the week. All the travel arrangements are in place for the Jan 3rd meet, so now its just wait and stay healthy.

Carl, I noticed you have moved the camera.
Was looking back over your early snatches and it was more to the side.
I was wondering because the bar out front is a common theme, in this log.
Could you put it at the side, I would love to see the bar path, from the early lighter snatches to these heavier ones.
As a plan coming together, it all is looking very nice right now.

Terry, you are right about the bar in front on snatches being a common theme. I’ll put the camera 90 degrees to the side next time I do heavy snatches. I’m not hitting the bar particularly hard with my hips, but maybe harder than I should. Next time I snatch, I’m going to pull back on the bar instead of just up after it leaves my hips and see what happens.
