Pulled a sumo PR of 272.5/601 today, was suppose to be 275kg but I wasn’t feeling great in warm-ups so I dropped it down a tad…I really think 280kg could of been there today though. Done with hook grip in a Viking Deadlifter.

Hahaha that’s amazing. As the bar gets to your knees you start talking and looking around. That’s confidence!!!
I think I actually saw you on Sunday, I remember wondering who the Jim Wendler lookalike was ![]()
Yep I was sitting on front row near door. Guess I am a ‘miniwendler’!
Thanks Iain and Hanley. Congrats on the first official 6 hundo Iain, 300 soon? I hope to get my first official 272.5 in 2.5 weeks and hopefully a 300 before 08’ ends.
Awesome job, GnP - very smooth!

Thanks ND.
I am at 515 with only a belt. I want to reach the 600 mark as well!
Good luck with the comp GnP!

Hopefully not too many ![]()
Well, today I was supposed to hit 555x2, i got the first rep almost all the way to the top and was going smooth but my grip gave out on me so i couldn’t lock it out(which I kind of expected as I said before)
So I threw on my straps and went for #2, got it within an inch or two of lockout but just couldn’t finish. (thats what she said) Overall, I am happy, hell, my biggest single ever was 545, but damn… its never enough.

First time back in gear this week… Haven’t pulled sumo in about 8 weeks because I popped something in my hamstring. I ended up just pulling a solid 507lb 3x2 today.
They were super easy. I’m hoping to pull 260kg (575lb) in my comp next month at 198. If I can do that then I’ll try and take a run at 600 again before the summer’s out.[/quote]
Hanley,
Have you been cutting weight alot to drop to 198? I thought you were in the 220’s now. Glad to hear your healing up from your injury. I lift in the SSA here in Buffalo at the Bench Gods meet. Nick Winters is making his comeback appearance from his pec injury, and should be on course to put up huge numbers.
I went after 585lb’s last week, but only managed to move it a bit, with no real success clearing the floor. I am still about 565lb’s right now.
I’m in also, I want to achieve a 660lbs deadlift around june next year.
I’m at 594lbs now (270kg.). Record is from a couple of months ago.
I want in on this as well. I have pulled 550, but never pushed beyond that from the floor. I have been training for my first comp. which is in Dec. , and hope to pull 600 in that. Currently I have been pulling from a lower position to help with my power from the floor. I have also pulled 675 from right at knee level. Good to all.
I was wondering if you guys wouldnt mind letting me in this group. I have pulled 600 before however, almost 3 years ago. Then I tore my rotator cuff in my left shoulder and havent competed since. I do not want to do a meet unless I can pr or have a chance to. I trained for a spring meet last year but knew that I wasnt going to PR so I shut it down about 3 weeks beforehand. I kind of feel like its still that elusive deadlift for some reason. I have been traning for a march 09 meet. If you would rather not then I respect that decision for the lifters in this thread as I know the difficulties that this number can pose in training. Thanks
