500 Lbs Squat Thread

I saw the 315-405 bench thread and figured that some of us squatters needed something.

This thread is for anyone who’s chasing 500, equipped, raw, doesn’t matter.

Basically, make a list like this:

Body weight:
Current best Squat w/ equipment or lack thereof:
Routine you’re using:
Anything else you’d like to spill your guts about (but no “my gf is…” crap please)

I’ll go first

Body weight:189 lbs / 88 kg
Best Squat: 215 kg (474 lbs) w/ power pants, belt, knee wraps
Routine: Sheiko (wade hooper’s 06 routine)

I’m hoping to break 500 at the end of my current cycle. When I hit 215 kg, i felt like i had an extra 5 kg left in the tank. Hopefully, I’m building on a 220 kg max, not a 215 kg max.

Routine

Light day heavy day split

tue. Squats 12,10,8 reps Leg press 12,10,8
Friday. Squats 5,5,5,3,2 Leg press 3x5
Each of these days have 1 set of 20 light leg extensions and leg curls afterwards(These seem to make me recover faster).

Officially in comp I haven’t done it, but for anyone that’s seen the video I think they’d agree I have one already.

The race is on to 550lb!

Hanely, when is your next meet? I plan on getting at least 501 officially in March when I finally get around to doing a meet. 551 will hopefully be in November next year.

I’ll race you to it, but you’ll clearly get it before I do. You might as well already have!

My best not quite ATG but below parallel Front Squat is 182.5kgs or 402lbs raw

I would love to join this race - but I am far behind you guys.

Best squat 405 at 179 lbs.

So, I will put hat in the ring for the race, maybe I will get a big huge jump in my numbers.

Shit. I feel a little weak here.

6’3" 249lbs BW

ATG raw back squat 400 lbs.
Front squat 315 lbs.

I want 500, 400 by the beginning of '09.

5’5" 165 lbs BW

Current max squat: 565 lbs

Titan single ply squat briefs and a crappy belt.

West Side, baby! Box squat with bands and you’ll be looking over your shoulder at 500 in no time.

I just got some knee wraps over the weekend and have a full squat suit somewhere over the U.S. via FedEx so I hope to break 600 soon.

Next meet is on Jan 27th, then probably mid May and late June, then the last of the year next November!

The plan’s to hit an official 500 there, and probably 530-540lb.

Break 550 in the summer, then I’ll be doing a smolov cycle so 600 after that maybe!!

Again, lofty goals.

Current Max (gym lift): 475lb wide stance to parallel.

Program: Modified Westside (replaced DE work with RE work).

Equipment: Belt only.

Goal: 501lb (227.5kg) in 11 days.

90kg

Squat unequipped (comp)- 225kg/495lbs

(sorry about the head tilt!)

Routine- Somewhat Westide based

Plan the 500lb for my nxt meet on 16th dec. I have done a gym lift in wraps of 232.5/511, but want an unequipped 500 in a meet.

Another reason to bust my butt and try to do something about my squat.

You plan to get 550 & 600 @ 100 kg or do you plan on moving up to the 110s?

455 lb. Fully equipped. Single Ply suit.

I started powerlifting exactly one year ago this month. Love it all to death!!

I was able to squat 500 to parallel at the end of my sophomore year in hs. I’ve since lost about 60 pounds, suffered three pretty serious injuries and have only been lifting consistently for about two months- I think I can squat about 350 to parallel now.
