So I’m going to start the “I hate the scene now” rant. Whats up with all these sherbangs with tophawks? Why are there 800 kids at a punk/hardcore show? I went to shows growing up and there would be a MAXIMUM of like 30-40 kids at a show for the bigger bands! WTF IS HAPPENING!?!?
Also, why to bands not stand for anything anymore? At “merch” table it used to be nothing but e.p’s and literature regarding stuff the band stood for (veganism, straight edge, anti-consumerism, anti-government, etc.)… now bands don’t stand for anyting except for being “tough” (which they aren’t) and selling booty shorts to 14 year old boys who think they’re tough as well.
I stopped going to shows, because this “anti-culture” has turned just as bad (and often worse) than everything else.
Must be because you’re from pa, land of the anti-flag
How is PA the land of anti-flag? Anti-flag sucks, and as far as I know that is a pretty well accepted statement… except for some 12-year-old “anarchists”.
I’m just saying, I’ve never experienced anything similar to what you said about punk shows
maybe you need to stop attending fall out boy concerts?

Maybe you don’t experience it because you live in MN? I live in Philly.
And nice insult… Fall Out Boy? If you read the lists I posted, obviously this is not the case.

That was my point with the A-F joke… theyre from philly… maybe they infected the town
They are from Pittsburgh (which I only know, because I just looked it up… or at least that’s what Wikipedia says), which is not admitedly a part of Pennsylvania. Its kind of like New Jersey of Delaware, which are not admitedly parts of the United States, but unfortunately we still have to deal with their bi-products.

You can give myspace, the internet in general and tv for all of that happening. But fuck it, its not a bad thing. The good bands are still out there and if more people are liking them then thats fantastic. Hell I’d rather have people listening to this kind of music than most others, regardless of why they are there for.

Yeah… and Hot Topic.
I agree with the listening aspect, but I can’t stand all these little douchebags (as well as their parents!) coming to shows. Especially when they:
Pick fights
Complain about getting hit
Complain about their kids getting hit
Randomly run around bumping people (i.e. their version of “moshing” or “dancing”)
Think they know everything
It also pisses me off when bands reunite to make an extra buck. i.e.- Youth of Today. Charging $10k for a show and singing about straight edge when they aren’t? Come on.
