Nah, I think Kai was referring to the Arnold which is in Columbus. He was implying that he is going to compete in the 2012 Arnold a year from now.

Bumping the Kai thread, his stomach looked ugly in the NY Pro FDB shot, it would benefit Kai to flex his abs in that shot vs stretch upward. i heard that at the NY Pro his abs were good, that pose sucks for him if he’s not flexing. If Jay looks like 09 he’ll likely win, if Kai doesn’t nail it down condition wise it’s Jay or Phil. if Kai nails it he could win, we’ll see. Still don’t like Phil’s pecs…we’ll see…excited, oylmpia is around the corner!!!

Okay,… enough chit-chat,… about Kai:
If the above pics are from the recent NY Pro, the word being battered around is that he was intentionally, ‘only 90%’, and that he’s going to really nail it down for the Olympia. If that proves to be the case, Cutler’s definitely going to have his hands full with Kai and Phil both as legitimate threats. I agree with your thoughts on his posing music and handling his stomach as well.
Also, as much as Victor was on everyone’s mind the last few years, when I guess the top 5, I don’t even consider him anymore. I’ll be okay if he proves me wrong and really does bring the combination of size, shape and conditioning that he’s capable of, but I just don’t expect it at this point.

Working with George Farah this time around, look for Kai to come in his best shape yet. We all know he has the size to stand with the best, it was his condtioning that held him back his last few shows of 2010…
If George Farah can get Kai in the same condition he gets Branch into it’s going to be a very close call for the top 3.
For me Kai is the most aesthetically pleasing modern day bodybuilder, definitely treats his ‘craft’ as much as an art as a sport. To me he keeps alive the pursuit of a beautiful and not just massive physique.
I would like to think it will be a complete toss up between the favourite 3, buuut… i think Jay will win regardless unless he gets something wrong as that’s just how it goes now. i will be real dissapointed if Kai doesn’t get at least 3rd.

Jay is definately larger/wider than Kai but Phil is not. Phil looks big as hell standing alone but although he’s grown leaps he is still not as big or wide as Kai. that isn’t a reflection on placement just a fact about size.

I agree I think Kai has more overall mass than Phil and is blockier. As far as aesthletics (sp? that word again…) I think Phil has Kai beat. I would put Flex Wheeler at the top over the last few decades as far as aesthletics and I think Phil comes closer to that look than Kai.

true. however every year we review what is classically asethetic vs what wows and flows on that given day. minus clavicle set phil has great structure…that said i’d just like to see kai be ripped to the bone but still full. his freaky popping details are enough to win and beat traditional asethetics if he’s on. likely jay, phil, kai but it could be any order depending upon the dice roll. 6/10 jay 2/10 phil 2/10 kai % wise as i see it…maybe kai is like 10% but i’m biased based on my painting background and the fact i use to work in a group home…love his life story and personality.
