Got to be fake plates.

Trust me, like 200 people on this forum are about to flip the fuck out about how that isn’t possible, and it will span 2 threads that are 20 pages each.[/quote]

You know I’m usually with you brother, but 5 plate inclines being impossible was never the argument in the other thread(s)…

haha, Yeah, I’m just busting balls hoping to get a smile or two out of people.

Branch grows on me more and more each time I see him. Same with Jay for the most part. But it would be nice to see Kai come in spot on from jump street just to see him stack up.

The last two years he didn’t dry out until it was too late and he had already been dropped from the top five it seems. Now if he could come into Friday night Branch-esk peeled, I think it would make for a much better picture of his potential.

Not saying he should win, would win or whatever. I just want to see him come in peeled, and see how he stacks up. Because I feel like his conditioning has kept anyone from being able to get a real good look at him v. the other guys finishing top 4 or so…

IDK, maybe I’m talking crazy.

OKay, let me ‘ruin’ this for you. Kai trains with Desmond Miller, a friend of mine at Coloseum gym in Queens. I know about half the guys training over there as well, and they’re all coming up to me and asking why kai is “so weak” -lol (he’s doing what most would consider fairly ‘light’ weights for a guy his size). I doubt he’s going to really use 5 plates for a regular workout at this point and risking injuring himself so close to redeeming his poor placing last year. I’m not saying he couldn’t, but some things are done just to get a good picture.

^He has some acting chops then it sure looked like he was straining. “aehhhh BOOOOOOM!, aeehhhh BOOOOOOM!”

There’s a video… He was spotted on every rep, but it was still 5plates. Just sayin’.

Also… Your new avi is fucking ridic. Great work as usual.

Yeah I’m pretty sure you’d need a massive amount of cheek to fake that whole incline bench… but once he got up to 4 plates he was spotted on every rep just about. No doubt he could still bust a least a rep out on his own with 5 plates though… which is mad.

I love Kai . His personality is so great and the way he looks at life is so motivating . Definitely someone i look up to.

Really Stu?! So these cats are faking for the camera, i’m having a hard time believing that this particular vid is fake. levrone did 455 incline reps near the show, branch bangs out partials w/ 405 close to the show…kai went up to 6 reps at 405 super clean and full ROM then hit 495 for a double or triple then back to 405 for like 4 then 315 for a few then 225 for a few…i’m sure they ham it up at times but my guess is he wouldn’t deviate a chest workout for the sake of fluff…bt it is a $ business and guys like me are goin’ OHHH WWWWOOOWW!! so maybe. i know guys are sapped for strength while depleted but who’s to say he’s not going a bit higher off-season? if that skinny PL Mendelson is hitting 715 for a single raw, well then who knows??? hehehaaaa

if those there saw the fake then sure but…

Kai came to a gym like 3 kms away from my house today, so stoked! he was just there for a meet and greet to rep his supps but not that many pros come to Australia and hardly ever up here on the gold coast.
He is a really humble cool guy, very philosophical which at times was frustrating because he would go off on a tangent and not answer questions but he had a lot of interesting things to say.

Dude you clearly dwarf him there. Kai who?

Doyle 2019 Mr. Olympia?

Haha I was pretty happy with this photo to say the least, definatly a VERY advantageous camera angle for me.
Actually its kinda disapointing because the photo doesn’t come close to showing how big Kai really is! Back as wide as you could imagine and his calves were as big as my thighs.

I find it unique that a pro level bodybuilder would try his best to make himself look SMALLER next to a fan. he is really scrunching up there…and he didn’t have to.

I would imagine because he’s that damn big, his confidence level is such that he doesn’t NEED to be showing off every second.

Besides, Kai seems like the kind of gentleman who has the ability to make others feel good about themselves… even in his what could be considered intimidating presence.

Well, you ARE talking about a guy who consistently trains in a full sweat suit.

He was leaning over a table for the pic but I think that perhaps ID’s comment is the reason for him not displaying his size.

I don’t think Kai is necessarily scrunching for the camera, it’s just that at certain level, when you know you’ve moved well beyond the “I look like I train” mentality, you don’t need to constantly draw attention to how big you are. I don’t think any of the top pros ‘puff up’ for photos the way gym-rats typically do (at least according to facebook they do -lol). He’s just leaning in, and being a damn cool and friendly dude to one of his fans that he genuinely appreciates having in the first place (you gotta respect this guy!)

In his book, Bob Paris talked about how someone sitting next to him on an airplane couldn’t understand why Bob didn’t walk around dressed to show off his physique all the time. Either you will understand this, or you won’t. I actually like when I can look ‘normal’. Sure all of my shirts are XLs, which at 5’8 is something I had to work towards, but the “lookat me! lookat me!” scream of the one size too small t-shirt isn’t a healthy thing IMO. There’s a difference between being proud of your accomplishments, and needing to constantly affirm your identy by means of them. The guys at the top of the game have a good understanding of this.

Bob Paris wrote a book giving the impression that he was bodybuilding for reasons other than himself to start with.

While I may agree that constantly wearing shirts with your nipples showing is a bit much, what I hate are the stereotypes. Very often, if I go shopping, it is after I leave the gym. I could see someone with the same mentality you just wrote about seeing someone like me in a tank top and making all sorts of assumptions.

Also, the bigger you get, the less chance of you looking “normal” no matter what you wear…so trying to cover it up even more will also stand out as some sort of insecurity if people just want to read it that way.

Solution?

Quit giving a shit what other people think.

Now…where’s my tank top?

Agreed. Shirts that are too tight look bad. They make the person wearing them look like a tool (IMO)

Ive had to give away/donate tons of shirts that I liked because they were too small for me. It sucks but wearing an “extra medium” where the shoulder/sleeve seem is on your traps looks horrible IMO

Love Kai love watching him train, love his own personal story, the dedication, the thoughtfulness, and just the general mood of the guy. Would love to see him take it home this year.

Dude I couldn’t agree more! Kai has had all odds against him his whole life. I saw a documentary on him the other night. Dude grew up in the projects in Brooklyn NY. He would go to the corner store with little money, and buy as much Tilapia as he could. This guy is definitely the next mr. O.

Dave Polumbo is an ass.
What, has he lived under a rock in Dumbfuckville, USA all his life until now?

I wish I knew Kai personally. I think we’d have a lot to talk about. Art is the center of his life. Bodybuilding is an extension of that passion.
