But it’s largely drugs and injuries which have really fucked him up. He looked great when he started out.
Both Ronnie and Dorian, probably the best BBers of all time, eventually got fucked up from all the drugs and injuries too.
If you were a true bodybuilding fan, you would see that this is the way it goes for practically everyone. Phil’s head is already twice the size it used to be cos of all the GH he is pounding. This is the price these guys pay. You can either say ew freakshow, or you can support the sport and say they all give so much, eventually they are going to be a train wreck from it all.
I am pretty ambivalent about Branch, but the biggest factor by far in his current look is that he is near the end of the road and he’s given his all for 20 years and it’s finally caught up with him.

People throw acromegaly around too often. If phil’s head had actually grown, it would not be proportional growth. There are pros who I do think have shown signs like bulked up brow ridges that didn’t used to be there, spaced teeth that were less spaced 15 years ago and jaw growth, but throwing it at every guy because they look more freaky now is just bad info.
I don’t even think most of the changes we are seeing lately with the sizes is really “gh” anyway but growth factors and insulin. Something has been added…without the giant guts even some gym rats had in the 90’s. The pro’s look cartoonish…but at that level, that is the goal.
My goal was to look more the size of the NPC heavyweight and superheavies. I respect the pros, but I don’t exactly want to look like most of them. Even Roelly Winklaar who was originally more proportionate is now getting that "Macy’s parade float"n look.
But that freak factor is what makes it to that level now…and I do respect them for it.
I really don’t understand the people who get upset about it…and have found most who act like that the worst look the least like the people they even think look better.
