Since our knowledge is based upon our experience, I would have to conclude that the medical profession is done for. If I saw such incompetence in my teaching staff as I’ve seen in the medical profession, I’d fire them all immediately and at once.
From the doctor who was an hour and 15 minutes late (that’s when I walked out, so he may have been later still)…to the doctor who thought Androgel was applied with a patch…to the wonderful gent who wanted to reduce my Test when I came in at 4 points above the minimum…to the doctor who was shocked when I said I wanted just to be in midrange…
…this thread is dedicated to these fine medical professionals who, I’m sure, never went into medicine for the money…no, never, ever…
To the fucking army docs, who will want to give motrin and tell you to drink water for 4 years, and take about a hundred xrays of your back and don’t know why your in so much fucking pain but think your just making it up, and then one smart one suggest an MRI and holy shit your all kinds of fucked up and because it is so far gone we have to do lumbar fusion…
but after years of pain I feel great and have been back in the gym now for 3 months after a year and a half off. Fucking ignorance.
Had one try and charge me for 2 office visits while I was in there for asking a question apparently that qualified as a seperate issue. Didn’t bother to tell me or anything. Just put it on the bill and wanted me to pay a 2nd copay. Fuck you!
I can weigh myself and take my own blood pressure thanks. Oh, and did you know that test boosters cause testicular cancer. Okay dumbass I’m not taking 50 pills an hour of it. Sheesh. Don’t get me started. Oops too late!
It’s unfortunate to hear this and I’ve had negative medical experiences as well. I am an evidence/patient based Chiropractor and let it be known that we have our share as well. I have to ask you guys though, in your field of expertise, are there any folks that are subpar? Have less than ethical standards?
Oh yea. From my idiot sister in law who OWNS HER OWN PRACTICE who still advocates a high carb, low fat diet, can’t drive a stick and is one of the worst jeapordy players Ive ever seen.
Just a few examples off the top of my head about her idiotic nature in general. Oh, and her co workers are no better. These doctors are some of the most uninspired, general nitwits Ive ever seen. I can’t wait to see her this holiday! I get to make her look like an idiot every year. She cringes when she sees me
I thought doctors were supposed to be the smart ones?

Yes, but the worst that happens is it takes longer for them to be able to use their computer, not unnecessarily prolonged pain, disability or death.
Medicine is without a doubt the most ironically self contradictory discipline there is. One one hand we’ve made colossal advancements in knowledge and on the other we have more medicated, diseased and dying citizens per capita than ever in history.
but first I have to say that I love my current GP - He has been caring for my family for over 10 years, he’s inexpensive (relatively) has memorized our medical histories, and seems to genuinely care for us.
On to the nightmares:
First my current HRT guy. Never does a test or asks a question unless I push it. Just re-fills the script. You would think he would want to at least check test levels, right? One of my goals for the new year is to find a good endo.
Second, the doctor that botched my vasectomy, resulting in my junk being open on the table for more than an hour. I got an infection, and my right nut sweeld to the point where - I swear this happened - My sac opened up. You could see my giant nut! Massive amounts of IV and oral anti-biotics, followed by 6 weeks out of work. For a fucking vasectomy! Thanks asshole!

Right. I’m sure a doctor feels insecure around a 27-year old who is still waiting tables. How will she survive the holidays? Oh, the shame!
While there are a good amount of quacks out there, every profession has its fair of dimwits. And while the link was interesting, the indicators used one of the studies don’t reflect solely the effects of health professionals. I’d argue that the effects of the average American’s life style habits contribute far more to the country’s low ranking than medical errors and worthless doctors.

I wonder who many people discussing how “stupid” doctors are, are making six figures? Why don’t all of you brainiacs harness that intelligence and go make some money?
Oh, yeah, that’s right… You like not being in control of your own financial destines. Yeah, that must be it!
I have friends that forget my age and what I do for a living.
Note for 2007…Spend less time on T-Nation

I have been to my DOC for 6 months, all the tests in the world, Glucose, tsh, and with a test level of 360 he says I’m normal…But a friend of mine lost his cool with the same Doc and began yelling…250 Delatestyrl eo
week…WTF??? his test level is 500… That proves at least inconsistancy in the treatment plans… I am just sick and tired of dealing with Docs that “are down on what they are not up on” ( Heugene Shippen )…
Now for the Family Dr…Excellent Dr and good friend
I hate my freaking doctor. I had to give him a urine sample last Monday. I called him on Tuesday to ask about it. I said “Doc how is my urine sample.” He said “fine but a little bitter.”
Thank you ladies and gents, you’ve been a really great audience.
I agree with the thread. I quit going to Doctors and other medical professionals. I’m sure at some point in the future I’ll go, but it will need to be dire.
In my opinion, the problem with doctors is more a problem with the system that dumbs them down. They work off medical guidelines that are basically sets of if and then statements. They can’t deviate from the guidelines because if they fuck up they are open to a malpractice suit. So, they just go along without exercising their critical thinking skills.

What they really are complaining about is doctors who are not polite, caring or paying attention.
