Teen Ectomorph Needs Help

Like others have already said, eat big and keep at it. If you are anything like I was, I didn’t hit my major growth spurt until after I graduated high school. When I graduated I was between 175 - 180 lbs. and small. I’d say in the next 5 years I put on a solid 50 lbs. and maybe grew another 2 inches. Some of us are just late bloomers man, don’t sweat it. And those 50 lbs. weren’t because I was eating right and training my arse off. It was just when my body started to finally fill out, put on some size and thickness. I did workout in that time frame but nothing like I am now. So, eat, lift, sleep, repeat.

well I eat whatever i can find around the house. Usually alot of meat and rice and breads and cereals. I eat tuna, and fast food cuz i think i might as well since i have such a fast metabolism.

I am gonna go into wrestling to get that base and a 6 pack from all the body weight excercises and get more endurance so i can handle bigger weights and the poundage.

so with wrestling i will be lifting. once i’m done with taht i will focus only on lifting. gonna start squatting more. I do incline,decline, and flat bench. tricep extensions, preacher curls, standing curls, rows. alot of machines and cable stuff…i havea hard time with my deltoids though.

And the only time i actually gained decent weight was with weight gainer but i couldnt afford that so i lost the weight.

Hi mate.

Its called the ECTO CURSE.

We have it too, very hard to gain weight, thin hair, bones crack for no reason, thin, flat chested, delicate build, young appearence, stoop shouldered and its bloody hard as hell to gain weight! As well as loads of other anmnoyind skinny things.

The best thind to do is train like mad, and eat as much protein as possible.

Its a curse, and theres different stages of it. Lee priest is actually an ectomorph too! he beat it though. We belive we can too, and want to set up an ecto society!

Keep training, you can do it!

I’m in a similar boat as you, although I don’t have as much of a problem putting on the weight.

The book Scrawny To Brawny by John Berardi would probably help you immensely, and I recommend purchasing it. However, you can get a feel for what the book offers by visiting that website and starting the online course. It’s very informative.

Sometimes, a super fast or slow metabolism can be the result of an out-of-whack thyroid. Wouldn’t hurt to get that checked out, and nobody ever seems to mention it on these threads. Why not?

Does anyvbody else have this? The Ecto curse! ondered for sooo long why do i have these scrawny arms? then found out about the somatatypes. Can lose half a stone in a week if we dont train and eat right. I hate being an ectomorph. Next year were going on our bulk year, something all ectos should take at some point in their life, touring around gyms across the globe, and hopefully get a lot bigger!

I don’t mind being an ecto: sure I gain weight slow and lose weight fast…but I can eat all day and hell I SHOULD eat all day if I don’t want to look like the twig that I am. I’m finally starting to gain some mass when I eat. Lost some of it in the past week though, damn flu.

I think I’ve been eating a litle too much peanut butter. I’ve had a bit of stomach trouble lately that has slowed my progress some.

Make sure you don’t pansy out on those squats, kid! They’re important. I’m getting ready to hit some here in about an hour or so.

Dito. And don’t over-train. Overtraining can be one of the biggest mistakes an ecto can make. Trust me, I know.

Before you devote your life to the bench press, I challenge you to research all the reasons NOT to bench press, and what exercises would be better for your upper body. Take it or leave it.

Either way just learn as much as you can and enjoy your life. Don’t stress over what you can’t control. You have the genetics you were born with. There’s a picture of a guy in an article here that shows him at 179 pounds. He looks better than 99% of people here.

scroll down and look at that guy. You only have to gain 50 lbs. Your really young and may grow for the next ten years. I grew late.

Don’t believe anything any given stranger on the internet tells you either.

Don’t worry to much about curls and extensions and other isolation movements. Work the prime movers.
My advice is to not judge yourself in the mirror or on the scale. Work on getting stronger and the rest will follow.
Don’t over-train!!!

Dude…eat…eat when it hurts, when full, when sleeping. Lift heavy.

Has anyone on here heard of or got the ECTO CURSE??? Impossible to gain weight, bird chest, chicken legs, thin hair, young appaeraNCE. ETC.

It’s called stuff your face with food. It’s called never let yourself be not full during the day.

And it’s not a curse if anyone “beat” if. Including Lee Priest…wherever you got that info from.
