Tall Guy Thread

6’5" 250lbs. Have long limbs and small joints, which often leads to injury, but I don’t care. I kick short people their arses in MMA and boxing like there is no tomorrow.

Fighting the Tim Sylvia-style rules for us tall numbs!

Heh old thread lot of tall guys here, it is harder to put on mass especially if your a lurch type build. Just remember though there are NO EXCUSES, so I just think of that in the back of my mind anytime I’m in the gym.

I’m lucky that I’m fairly proportional for my height, a lot of nba guys are like 6’6 with 7ft+ wingspans and very lengthy legs also. Makes for great basketball players but little harder for setting world records in powerlifting.

eh i might as well contribute, i’m 6’2-6’4 havent measured myself in a long ass time weight generally hovers around the 105 mark, squatting sucks cause i go ass to calves every rep but its the only exercise where i have any form of struggle in progression with.

I’m 6’5, and I used the tall=naturally skinny excuse for a while, and I was about 130lbs at my worst.

Then I found T-Nation, learned to eat big, and now, 20 months later, I just weighed in at 200lbs for the first time in my life!

In the last couple of weeks I’ve been eating 5000+ Calories, but I didn’t really seem to gain any fat, so for 3 days I’ve been eating around 6000 (I’m using fitday and the food labels themselves to measure) and have yet to lose sight of my abs.

I’m still gaining like a motherfucker though

I hope that 105 is in kilograms…

I’m 6’4" and 225 Lbs, Fairly Proportional but Longer Legs. I used to hate squatting with my shorter lifting partners, but, got over it. Now, Squatting is my favorite lift
and progression is going well, but, slow.
I’ve not found any other lift that can completely whip my ass like a good 20 set.

Point being, Tall guys are tall guys with certain strong and weak tendencies. Shorter guys are shorter guys with their own tendencies.
I grade myself on my effort. With 100% effort and good planning, you will get
your maximum results, whatever those may be for you.

Oh geez I m sure the 5’5" guys were wishing they were 6’4" just work harder.

If I had to work harder to pack on mass but i got to be 6’3 (the height i always wanted) i would do it. Stop whining… >_>

word…

Hello gents. This shall be my first post.
6’5" and ~205lbs. With a 7.895" schlong.

Hi, I thiought I’d add my 2 cents.

i’m 6’5" and usually about 207. i fight at 205 and always end up going lower than that when i train for a figh. i was at 150 before i started working out.

i’d like to walk around at 220 to fight at 205.

i’m glad i found this thread, i never thought of specializing my workout for my height. i’ve always had trouble filling out.

come to think of it, most people involved in weightlifting ARE shorter because they want a physical presence. [/quote]
You mean shorter as opposed to the general population or freaks of nature?

Good advice (but not for everyone)

Me for example gets 5-6 hours of sleep a night.Eat’s pretty poorly but get in lots of calories from fast food and candy bars.I eat maybe 1-2 maximum healthy meals daily.

My training mostly is with isolation movements.I use to be a compound guy but ended up looking like a big spider(thick torso and skinny arms and legs)

Since ive statred to doing leg extensions, tricep kickbacks ,calf raises and concentration curls my phsique has improved greatly. Dont get me wrong i still do compounds but not nearly as much as isolation movements.

But as the old saying goes Different strokes for Different folks.

You know, it’s even easier to ‘look’ big when you have small bones, I’m short, and skeletally small framed, and people tell me they can’t believe I’m only 147lb. “What man? No way, I don’t believe you. I thought you would be like 170 or something.” - sucks to be tall, but it pays off in sports a hell of a lot if you do actually get that weight on :frowning:

I just bounce off people, literally, even if I could bench their bodyweight easy.

Good luck all you tall guys, impress me most!

i can’t find the articles mentioned in the beginning of this thread because the links are too old. anybody have good links for tall guys?
