Wow. I guess its the Kansas farm boy in me, but you all are disgusting. Why in the FUCK would you pay 20 dollars for something that isn’t even cooked? You could go to the grocery store and get raw fish waaayyy cheap. Why in the hell would you want to eat squid and eels, and RAW fish.

“hey guys, lets spend 20 dollars for a meal of food thats not even cooked!” wow, what a great idea.

If it ain’t beef, it aint meat.

it sounds ridiculous, but you could make similar arguments about anything. Fish supplies with it’s macronutrients, compounds that cannot be found in beef to appreciable degree or not at all, and it’s difficult as hell to catch(for the most part). On top of that, it must be served with a higher standard of freshness and its much more difficult to keep populations of fish in check. We can grow cattle like there is no tommorow, in comparo.

If you want to ask me, though,(which you probably aren’t), it’s way more manly to eat a raw animal than a cooked one. Theres nothing like severing the raw flesh of a once alive animal with your incisors, and then swallowing large chunks whole.

mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm i love animals, they are delicious.

Off topic, but I had a friend in High School that would eat a very small peice of raw bacon everyday, slowly increasing until he could eat a whole strip. He was the coolest guy until he dropped out and got on drugs.

And I just don’t really think of fish as “animals” quite in the same way I think of pigs and cows as “animals” I guess I just can’t imagine eating a peice of nasty, cold blooded, scale encrusted animal over a nice big peice of prime rib, still dripping red blood.

I hope you know that mithridatism is a myth…

I don’t think so. There have been records of snake handlers being able to get bit after years of doing it. What about well water as well? I can drink the well water at my grandfathers house because I used to drink it every summer during hay season, but my cousins get sick if they drink too much.

A lot of polynesian fishermen I know describe eating fish caught in the wild as a “clean” form of animal protein. This is true to the extent that domestic animals raised for food are fed things like hormones and antibiotics and also have a ton of cholesterol. (I know, mmmmmm, cholesterol, yummy.) Also, fat in fatty fishes is very healthy.

I’ve also heard freshly caught, raw fish descibed as “tastes like fresh, clean pussy”.

I hear you about the poorer part, but hungrier?

I guess maybe, if you were maybe only eating straight cucumber rolls or asparagus rolls, then maybe you could leave without feeling properly full.

But I just don’t see how it’s possible provided you get your fair share of satiating protein and fats from salmon, yellowtail, tuna, albacore and whatever else is superfresh that day.[/quote]

I have never found protein to be that satiating, but in any case, if I were to leave feeling full, I would have to spend big bucks. If money were not an issue, then there would be no belly problem

Innoculation (well-water, or water in Mexico) is different from mithridatism. You’ll never be “immune” to neuro-toxins. You’ll never be able to become immune to arsenic, lead, methanol, etc. There are some things we can develop antibodies to and some things we can’t.

I would be very cautious of eating a meat raw that is known for having some dangerous properties if handled improperly. Especially given the fact that there is virtually no conceivable reason why one would have a need to be able to eat raw bacon.

Damn. When the pussy tastes like fish, something is wrong.

If I ate something that reminded me of fresh clean pussy, it would probably only depress me even more, but I will try sushi eventaully, I suppose.

Sushi is damn good.
Anyone ever try nato? Fermented soy beans. My wife (she’s Japanese) loves it. I find the smell and taste revolting.

When I was in Japan I got to eat sashimi right off the side of a japanese snapper, about 1/2 way through it started twitching and moving. Apparently the chefs only stunned/pithed/knocked out (whatever) the fish before they sliced it up and served it to us. They showed us the heart was still beating when we were done.

Oddly I would have imagined myself being a little more creeped out by eating a living animal. Live and learn.

Freshly caught sashimi, when you’re still sitting on the fishing boat, doesn’t taste like fish, it’s extremely delicate and delicious. I know I live surrounded by the Pacific ocean and not everyone can do this, but if you ever have the chance to try sashimi this way, your mouth will have an orgasm, and you will also become very spoiled in terms of the freshness of your future sashimi/sushi.

Nato’s good. Let’s just say it’s an “Acquired Taste”.

If you go to a Korean bbq place, it’s really good if you put a little on the beef and wrap it in a cabbage leaf.

I completely agree! Living On the small Island of Okinawa for the last 7 years and being able to get the freshest fish you have ever had has me spoiled.

This is true. I did this with a friend of mine who fished all the time. He caught some fresh fish and damn that shit was so good. Right on the boat he cut that thing apart and served it up.

That’s great! We do this in the islands too, right on the fishing boat. OMG, decadent!

this is one of the more popular places on Okinawa to fish because it’s so damn expensive to go out on a deep sea boat. But the only thing I have ever caught there is squid. But Hey Fresh is Fresh and you haven’t experianced Okinawa until you have been sprayed with Squid ink before cutting up your mid-morning snack to keep you going the rest of the day.

Im pretty sure sushi grade rice is some of the starchiest their is. Try eating nigiri then switching to sashimi, there is a noticeable taste difference, and I am convinced the reason why people love sushi is because they get a carb source molecularly similar to candy, in the sushi rice with a nice tasting fish and a boatload of sodium. Sound healthy? But if you are sticking to the Sashimi more than the rice based pieces then have some seaweed salad and some edamame that is good meal!

Seaweed salad is good but I love me some squid salad!
