Sushi..Healthy?

Wow, close to home people. Is Arigato the one on State street the other side of Somethings Fishy?
It’s on the upper end of lower state, across the street from Copelands. It’s more expensive than most places but I think it’s worth it. If you go try to sit at the bar with “Ramon.” They have some sauces that I have never seen anywhere else…6 hours and counting.

Glad I can lead others to some great sushi!

If you are ever in Santa Barbara, you must go to Arigato. By far the best fish, sauces, service, etc. I will be there in approximately 8 hours!

If price is not that much of a concern try Sakana in Montecito (10 min away) they have some high end rolls that are well worth the cash.

Theres a place a town over from where I live that has all you can eat sushi for 21 bucks a person. Its fucking amazing.
There WAS a place like that back home…

They’re out of buisness and I’m not kidding…

Wonder why??

They’re not even slightly healthy for you, but I looooooove spider rolls. So damn good.

Yes I know they are like the one thing taunting me when I go to sushi attempting to eat a healthy meal.

Santa barbara? damn… I live in san diego :(.

Hell yes man. Hell yes.

The title of this thread should have been sushi…good?

And the answer is yes.

If you’re not low-carbing, sushi is pretty healthy.

My fave is “Spicy Tuna”- chopped raw ahi mixed with hot chili oil and tiny caviar, topped with green onion and wrapped in nori. I’m like an addict, and am actually trying to cut down on my spicy tuna sushi consumption and eat other food groups, aside from the “sushi” food group.

When I was really low carbing and leaning down, I practically lived on raw tuna with a bit of wasabi and no salt.

Strange question. Sushi is either just fish, fish and white rice, or lightly-fried fish and white rice. If you don’t know whether fish or a fish/rice combination is “healthy,” then you have serious problems!

Wow. I guess its the Kansas farm boy in me, but you all are disgusting. Why in the FUCK would you pay 20 dollars for something that isn’t even cooked? You could go to the grocery store and get raw fish waaayyy cheap. Why in the hell would you want to eat squid and eels, and RAW fish.

“hey guys, lets spend 20 dollars for a meal of food thats not even cooked!” wow, what a great idea.

If it ain’t beef, it aint meat.

Because its fucking incredible.

With an attitude like that, I imagine you will remain among the lower classes. Well done!

Poor lost soul…once you start eating sushi there is no turning back. Believe me, the sushi bar serves better fish than you see in the grocery store. And besides the fact the fish is so good, it is usually a fun environment to be in.

You are missing out.

You found the words that I could not. Well stated. I agree.
BarneyFife wrote:

Sure you could buy it raw, but you couldn’t eat it raw. Restaurants serve sashimi-grade fish which means very fresh and tested for contaminants. Hence the expense.

Wonder what the Japanese think about deep-fried Twinkies.

Since you take fish oil, you already know corn-fed beef is nothing special.

You oguht to go to the FDA website and decide for yourself:

http://google2.fda.gov/search?client=FDA&site=FDA&oe=&lr=&proxystylesheet=FDA&output=xml_no_dtd&getfields=*&q=sushi

You don’t know what you’re missing!

I was not aware that what one ate determined what ones social class was, but I truly appreciate your opinion.

it sounds ridiculous, but you could make similar arguments about anything. Fish supplies with it’s macronutrients, compounds that cannot be found in beef to appreciable degree or not at all, and it’s difficult as hell to catch(for the most part). On top of that, it must be served with a higher standard of freshness and its much more difficult to keep populations of fish in check. We can grow cattle like there is no tommorow, in comparo.

If you want to ask me, though,(which you probably aren’t), it’s way more manly to eat a raw animal than a cooked one. Theres nothing like severing the raw flesh of a once alive animal with your incisors, and then swallowing large chunks whole.

mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm i love animals, they are delicious.
