Strongman and Competitions

Who can help me find out about competing in strongman competitions and strength sports? I would like to be a strongman but I have no idea what my first step should be.

Basically I want to lift really heavy stuff and I want to compete against others. I live in NC and I need some sort of starting point. Anybody got any advice?

Thanks in advance.

There’s a great crew down in the Carolina area. Mike Johnston puts on a great show and is an all around nice guy. He should be listed on Nastrongmaninc. Learning the implements is extremely important. There’s a strongman thread in this section that you should definitely look at. Machine and Brad both are higher level strongmen and both respond very quickly. I compete also, but not at their level. If you want, you can PM me anytime also.

Here’s Mike Johnson’s website:

It’s a great site. Also check out elitefts.com as they have a bunch of good strongmen who contribute there and some good training gear. Good luck and welcome to strongman!
