Stiffness after Icing - Need Solution

After a bad bout with back pain, I’ve really got a handle on it thanx to a chiropractor, intense stretching and icing.

1 problem though- after I ice my back, my back is so cold and stiff that I can barely bend it.

What’s the remedy? Should I put more layers betw my skin and the ice?

SHould I alternate with heat?

Not worry?

This is becoming a problem when i ice early in the day.

Icing tends to do that. Once you take off the ice pack, it will warm up and the stiffness goes away.

If it’s okay with your chiropractor or other physician, you can usually follow up the icing with a heat pack, which should get it warm and pliable again.

Depending on the injury, you can usually ice and then heat the area, alternating back and forth.
