john, keep up the work with the sumo, it will get better. though i was a better sumo than conventional, i "liked pulling conventional better, and i always admired the physiques of great conventional pullers. huge lats, big traps, etc.
sorry if this is a stupid question:
so are you all deadlift/bench specialists?
as far as competition goes at least.

Thank you, i will definatly keeping the sumo dead with some ultra close stance squat.
No we all do the three lifts, but we are mo recognize as good benchers. Our squat sucks for sure, but we work at it. Coach thib sent me a little prog to bring my triceps, this is a killer. this a combo of a heavy lockout and a russian lying tri’s ext in the low range reps followed by a mini band tri’s ext 6 times per days in the 20-25 reps range. I’m so sore right now, i have no idea how i’ll train monday.
Hi,I am a powerlifter from Denmark and I hope you can help me out.
One of my fellow lifters from Denmark relocated to Canada recently, and I was wondering if you know of any powerlifting clubs in this area?
Saskatoon, SK Canada
Right now he is doning what he can in ]www.theironworksgym.ca/ Great gym, but he needs fellow powerlifters and stable training partners around sometimes.
Oh he is a pretty good lifter:
Squat 315 Kg (110) DM 2008, Hvidovre
Bænkpres247.5 Kg (110) VM 2007, Soelden ?strig
Dødløft 292.5 Kg (110) DM 2008, Hvidovre
Total 852.5 Kg (110) DM 2008, Hvidovre
VM = world championships
DM = Danish championships
You start with a barbell behing your head(lying on the floor) and push as hard as possible to start position of the bench press. Acceleration is the key here.
Salut Jon je n’ai aucune idee pourquoi j’essaye de parler le francais… que mon Francais suce. Anyways, back to English…we met last year at Nationals in Halifax and we were both at Nationals in St.Catherines this year, saw you in the hot tub haha, I lifted against Joel last year as well. My names also Jonathan if you remember.
Anyways looks like you guys have a great club going in Quebec, we have one running in Alberta here as well I just finished the new website actually ( www.ualbertapowerlifting.com ). How’s your training going, will you be doing a CPU meet again anytime soon, or are you sticking with the CPA/CPO?
Sorry to chime in so late, I look forward to reading all about your training.

Wow Hi, yes i remember you , i watched your lifting this year, if i remember well you had trouble with your first two squat attempts? You should up the bench more, since you already have a good squat and deadlift( i’m sure youre already at it). Yes i will be back un CPU un july . I had some knee issues so i did not squat at all for the last 4-5 months. I feel confident now, I did some box squat with not so sissy weight and they were fast. I loved the hot tub, next time we’ll talk more i hope if i can finally speak english without destroying it. As for CPA i did two push/pull since i cannot squat. Push pull are fun and easy on the CNS.
Haha…yah I’m working on it, I’ve got no lockout so I’m trying to hammer on that, haven’t done much shirted work either but to be honest I really just need more meet experiance. I’ve squatted and pulled 275kg in training so its just a matter of putting it all together in a meet.
I’m doing Alberta Provincals in July and probably Westerns in August, so I hope to get some decent numbers in by then. A push/pull would be fun but its just CPU around here so I guess that just hasn’t been an option.
You don’t butcher the language man haha, your english is better then Joel’s by far!
What sort of numbers you hoping to put up? in what weight class?
Right now i’m at 90 kgs, i’ll drop to 82.5. If all goes well a 275 kg squat, over 200 kg in bench and 275+ in the dead. Thanks for the compliement hahaha , at least i understand when people talk to me . I expect a 700 + total AT LEAST, but who knows training and a meet is different as you said you squatted 35 more kg’s in training. You have long arms , so levrage is not on your side in bench. Dou you arch alot? It can really shorten the stoke.
Nice, had no idea you are so light, thought maybe you were 90/100kg. Hahah I see you remember how absolutly terrible my squat was, are you still a Jr.?
Yah I do have long arms though I really hate to make excuses but I get jealous of alot of our short range benchers who can’t bench to a four board because their range of motion isn’t that big. I have a pretty good arch but I’m constantly trying to make it bigger and better, I need to do whatever I can to increase my bench press…I’m tired of it killing my total.

No i’m now in the open. I started too old to train ahah . Tonight i squatted on 14 inches box and did a PR. I did triple until i hit 500 from this point i moved on to double until i hit 600 and then tried a big pr , i was feeling confident tonight, jumped to 7 plates a side(675 pounds ?!?!?) with knee wraps and suit bottom(superior suit , the first titan suit i bought) and did it very well with some even more gas in the tank. The increased bodyweight helps me a lot in the squat. I even did a pr in the sumo deadlift, 500 + a set of chain for a triple, raw and without a belt. Hit some pull trough, standing abs upper back and called it a day. Great night at the club for sure.
If i can pulled it together at the meet i expect a total between 700 to 747,5 wich will give me my dream, and elite total . But i just want to up my total i don’t expect too much , when i hope to pull big stuff i always shut down and things start to rumble in my head wich kill my confidence.
Tonight we met a guess member for the summer. Thy guy play football for Rouge et Or, Laval University. Nice guy with some strength for sure.
Trained squat tonight raw with no box , free raw squat. I went well byt my form sucks ass. I ended with 425 for sets of three. Nothing heavy.
After that i did some deficit deadlift standing on two 45’s plates. It was fast , after doing the sumo for three weeks i went back to conv to see how it goes. 500 + two pairs of chains for a fucking easy single, really easy. I did this without a belt.
Did some romanian dumbell deadlift high reps. standing abs, face pull . An easy workout, but it’ll pay for sure. I’M currently building my confidence in the squat. We’ll see how it goes . I plan to add 25 pounds a week for a triple and add some gear. Next week i’ll put some old suit buttom, next a belt and suit buttom, next suit+wrap.
