Standing Military Press Race to 300 or 250 or Whatever

Holy Cow! That’s where those big lifts come from.
Do ya have yer own zip code for that thing?
It’s big enough to have its own congressman.

Hummm…posts aren’t going through.

Note to mods, this is the old farts “competition” and trash talk thread.
It’s all in fun.

No worries. Nothing a little Emetrol won’t fix.

Jack Daniels you say!? Sounds like a great party!

Oh great! Just put the bullseye right square in the middle of my back, why don’t you!

I think you’re playing possum! When you push up 275#, next month, we’ll all know it’s true.[/quote]

Oh…but if you had seen those reps, you would feel sorry for me.
Given how I felt, yesterday, I should probably drop out of the 300 race and join the 250 race.

Actually, I was kind of hoping that you were playing possum. We need someone already closer to 300# to quiet down that old guy in 'Bama.
You know the one. I think he is going to be throwing heavy stuff around, this weekend, like he was 20 or something.

That is definitely one of the things about military press. When the body is worn down and it is time for a deload, NO lift suffers as much as MP. I can lose 20-25# off my MP max when my body wants a deload.

Well kid, your hub sez you are twenty something. I’m only bout twice your age but come on in and join the party.

For perspective, a few here are in or above the “athlete” category, and some are true superheros.

I think we should let him compete in the “Over 53” category. Harry needs some competition.

I now have that creepy theme music running around in my head. Thanks.

I’m going to do 105 for reps this week, lets see what happens.

Wow standing MP press to 300? Damn strong fellas in here. Thats quite impressive. Good luck to all.

You are assuming that we ever actually get to 300#. Apparently, we aren’t old enough to MP that much

OK…205 went up today and the Strick man said I had to post it here.
Yippi kiy yay. So close…almost there…better watch out now…could happen next week!

hehe =)

I am at 220 now, but did 175 for 9 so I think I am on my way up. 300 is a long way away so I will shoot for 250. I will use the 5-3-1 program in my approach.

Welcome aboard. 175 x 9 is solid work. You should think about starting a log here. I would be interested to see how you train.

I guess I have a little confession to make.Back in april i sprained some ligaments in the AC joint in my Left shoulder.(at least that is what the sports med Doc said it was,I trust him because he was the same one who fixed my right.) Before my sprain I but up 200x10 on Mpresses.I lower my head in shame :frowning: So I guess ive been sandbagging just a little.

“Sandbagging” - is that anything like kettlebell training??

If so, I’m not sure how that is a problem…
