Squat/Deadlift Strength Difference

Hey guys just wondering. If I pull 495 but only squat 455 does that imply I lack muscular development somewhere or is this just a result of my body structure?

Having a 40lb difference between the two lifts isn’t abnormal …

I hope not, because I’m truly crippling imbalanced with a 485 deadlift and 342 squat.

being at the level your at now, I’d assume you would have noticed that the majority of people can pull anywhere from a bit more to a lot more then they squat. It isn’t always the case but it is very, very normal.

Im in this boat.

200 deadlift and a 140 squat. Thats 130# difference.

40lb isn’t anything.

Deadlift (RAW): 230kg
Low-Bar Powerlifting Squat (RAW): 187.5kg
A2G High-Bar Olympic Squat (RAW): 165kg

…at a bodyweight of @95kg.

wait…are you serious? thats a 60 pound difference.

Sadly yes I am. Im an Aussie. We use metric, so 200kg, and 140kg is 60kg, or 135#.

Why in the blue blazes would you mix your units of measurement in the same post without saying so?[/quote]

I agree, probably not the ‘right’ thing to do. A learning point for all of us!

But, I still think it would be obvious enough that it was a combination of both.

If you squat to parallel it is a longer range of motion than a deadlift so I would think it would be normal to have a bigger dead.
