Silver and Steel

The Saxon Tales by Bernard Cornwall.

Do you have Scribd? They’re all on there. Uhtred is an incredible character, and he develops through the series.

I read these books more than 20 years ago and have fond memories of them. Now you are making we want to read them again.

I don’t have Scribd. Inhave audible and Libby.
I just went and took a peek at scribd. Do you get unlimited books for 9.99?

You got in before it was cool! I’m a pop culture bandwagon fan. They seriously are great, though.

Sure do. Pretty outstanding selection too. It’s more like a library, where everything stays in your app and you don’t own it (so you don’t keep it if you cancel) but I don’t care about that so it’s not a drawback.

I was never cool mate. I think I read them because my wifes dad read them and gave them to me to read. Pretty sure thats not what the cool kids did.

Around the same time I also read the Courtney Series from Wilbur Smith. This is set is 1667 and is centered around the Dutch East India Trading company and lots of piracy and swashbuckling adventures (pretty sure no one under 70 uses that phrase!!).

I have been searching the site, looks promising. I go though several books a week so we’ll see if they put the brakes on.
Is there kind of referral link so you get credit?

I think you’re cool!

Actually it appears there is. I have to send it through email if you want to share that. If not, I am not upset at all.

Edit: never mind - this might work:
There’s not enough time in the day for everything I want to read on @Scribd. Check it out for yourself: Scribd - Read books, audiobooks, and more

I was pretty uncomfortable. Give those a shot - they’re absolutely horrific. They’ve shown up dozens of times and I still have to mentally prepare

It appears John Meadows died last night of a PE. I got to meet him a couple times, and was obviously a fan of his work. More importantly, at least in the surface way I knew him, he seemed like a great guy and was a leader in his Columbus community. It’s sad to lose anyone too soon, but it’s hard to overstate how hard it is to watch a family with young children lose someone like this. I know he will be missed far greater than whatever platitudes we put on the Internet, but I also know he was a man of great faith and ready to meet his Maker. Be thou at peace.

I’ve not been keeping this updated. Did my secondary workouts last week and this week I’m on the road so I’m doing the secondary ones first so I can use the hotel gym.

Today was pull with dumbbells and bands and treadmill sprints.

I didn’t realize, but my wife was emailing John to see if I could work out with him before we move. He was onboard and working with her to find an event/ opportunity. I’m not writing that to lament I didn’t get to do what I wanted to do while a family is burying their father/ husband; rather I’m trying to illustrate what just a down-to-earth, good soul he really seemed to be.

Whew! Back in Ohio. I did my cardio this morning so @ChongLordUno doesn’t chase me down. I’ll be back this afternoon for the fun stuff so @simo74 doesn’t kick me out the club.

Athlean-X (I never watched that channel) set up a GoFundMe for Meadows’ family if anyone is interested:
