Happy Birthday!

Happy Birthday!
Thanks all!
Happy birthday TfP!
Thanks big man!
How are you?
Things are well! Busy, but moving forward. Young lad is 8months old today, so that’s a pretty cool age, his first tooth just popped through. Our house build is nearing completion. Painters are in, garage is being sided, decks are getting underway, plumber in this Friday to get his work done, etc. Training seems to be going well, hitting some PRs while shedding some fat. All in all, no complaints here!
Happy birthday mate ![]()
Those are all great things! You’re definitely busy, but it’s fun times. Really glad to hear the house will (one day) finish. Hope your little one can sleep a little more with the tooth through… those were rough days for us.
Thanks!
Happy birthday TFP hope you had a great day and maxed out those birthday gainzzz
Thanks!
HBD how young are ya now
38, sir
I somehow lost 1.5lbs this week, even eating 100% of my meals on the road. Guess I do have to do cardio. Damn it!
Here’s an open question for everyone…
I skimmed part of this article today:
In it, the author says he prefers (when losing weight) everything in a training program being geared toward fat loss vs. keeping your normal weight training and adding cardio/ reducing calories.
What’s everyone’s thoughts? Not necessarily on the program itself, but the concept - like do you keep bodybuilding and add cardio/ drop calories… or do you do a bunch of circuits and WODs and sprints?
My chest and shoulders actually look big lately, so, for me, I’d probably suffer through whatever else to keep lifting for them as I am… ha!
I like the idea of going all in for one type of gains.
Personally I was a little leaner with EMOMS, alternating sets, circuits and short rests in general, without much extra cardio/conditioning stuff.
Now I’m doing straights sets and resting more and I’m a little fatter without extra cardio/conditioning.
Switching up styles is also cool because you get a huge “training effect.” Like you switch up your workouts and the new style kills you for a week or two, then you get used to it as you adapt to it, or make gains. 5-6 weeks later it’s no big deal, youre used to it, the training effect isn’t as big anymore. So you don’t need to train that way anymore.
Chest and shoulders are kinda small muscles. You could probably do regular BB lifting for them and fast paced circuit stuff for the big muscles of legs/hips/back.
This tells quite a story. Thanks for the insight!
This is also definitely true, and I rarely take advantage.
Not mine! Ha!
Sadly, also not mine…
Anyway, I appreciate the insights. I think you’re onto something. I really didn’t like the heavy superset stuff of Alsruhe’s types of programs, but that doesn’t mean I shouldn’t switch things up. I have two more weeks of the upper body focus of what I’m doing, and I don’t know if @ChongLordUno can convince me to do the lower body half, so maybe I’ll try something new then. I’m definitely having a significantly harder time getting leanish than I ever have before.
Mate you know I’m behind you whatever program you do!
To be honest I’m not looking forward too much to the legs focus myself.
Have a think about it buddy. You never know where this could go!
All cause your not 25 anymore. Wait till your 50 like me lol — that being said it just takes more modifications on your part. Ya can’t do the same stuff you used to w a different body and metabolism now…just needs tweaking
So unfair! I want to drink beer for breakfast but not actually face any consequences.
Anyway, did my secondary upper body workout and cardio today. Last two weeks of this phase coming up!
This is just simply focusing on one goal as a time. I think you could develop some circuits or WODs that really hammer your chest and shoulders, though.
If/when I get to a place where I’m satisfied with my size and strength then I hope to try some of Ryan Fischer’s stuff that @kleinhound was running. It’s a little bit of bodybuilding meets CrossFit. I also stumbled across an internet trainer who shares free content under Tier Three Tactical.
