Absolutely disgusting - I’ll allow it!
Cheers dude. i usually train 20 minutes after waking up so usually have pre-workout and sometimes a protein shake. I also end up having half my carb allowance at my evening meal as i eat with the family most of the time i don’t want the kids to see me being strange (or showing unhealthy eating patterns).
I might try and re-work some intra carbs but need to dial down my cut over the next few weeks. Last time i cut nearly all carbs and made myself feel like crap and then drank loads each weekend (yes i am an idiot).
This time i’ve stopped drinking for 6 weeks and have cut out some carbs, some fats and will hopefully be enough to be sustainable and sensible in a deficit.
We gotta get this quote in the marketing campaign.
I think I stopped for 6 days once. Like in Iraq.

This is seriously stupid light. I think I need to add a little just to make me tighten my form. The squat isn’t heavy, but coming down to the box and holding forces me to explode right. On the videos for this, they are fast down and up, but maybe I’d do better with a pause on the chest. -

Gym was crowded and I was tired of fighting for benches
Also took a solid 45 minute walk with the wife today.
Day 2 of the Surge Workout Fuel was good - I don’t think it’s placebo that I still “care” by the time I get to the later assistance work… especially with all the teenage goofballs (not being mean; they’re in there working) I had to maneuver around. I think my lack of strength is really just being out of practice. Sleep remains a constant, in that I don’t do much of it, so the only variable is the intra.

Went without coffee this morning! The Surge Workout Fuel makes my skin tingle; it would be a nice little bonus to slightly reduce my caffeine intake. On the other hand, I do need to account for the calories: I’m ridiculously full just from this and my regular meals. I said I’d be willing to gain weight, but it probably doesn’t all need to be this week.
Don’t worry - I’m drinking coffee now. I am on the road and won’t do ME legs until Thursday night. I’ll get some LISS in though.
My kids go to their first ever sleep away summer camp Sunday. I’m legitimately near tears nervous. Life is changing quickly!
I’m moving them back to Ohio in July. I don’t want to move them anymore, but uprooting them was unfair. They had a structure in place, and people that loved them, and they were doing very well. They’re happy to go back, so I hope this is (finally) the right father decision.
It’s interesting that you say this, because I had Surge for the first time yesterday (mid-)morning, and I forgot to eat lunch. That’s happened before—I get busy and the next thing I know we’re an hour from dinner—so it could’ve been just one of those days.
But the timing there and your comment today make me wonder…
Good luck with the move!
If you really think it’s the good decision, it is the good decision.
That is interesting! Looking back, I’ve had two really successful diets with it (the old formula). There may be something here. Let’s keep an eye on it as we go.
Thanks man, I really appreciate it. I think parenthood, for me, has been defined by having no idea if I’m making the right decisions - this is not my nature in the rest of life.
Much like you, though, I’ve always said any decision made for the right reasons is the right decision.
Doing what you believe is best for them given the circumstances is always the best decision IMO. I also think it’s worthwhile to explain (to the kids) why you make those decisions so they can see and understand - even if they don’t agree.
100%. Thanks man. We can only do the best we can.
Are you also going?
That amused the absolute dog poop out of me: you win the day, sir.
My wife did actually ask if my health had gotten worse; was I moving them back home so I could feel better about it when I died?
To not totally press secretary this: yes, they’re stuck with me.
Alright! That gives your post a whole different, way more positive tone.
Good luck with the re-move!
Thanks! I honestly hadn’t even considered the way it sounded
Today was a tough one. I wanted to get it done yesterday, but flights and meetings and swim meets prevented that. I don’t think I have any travel next week, so it will be fine.

This was a really tough one. I can say without a doubt the Surge Workout Fuel made a difference on this one than when I’ve done this day with water or Gatorade. It was still awful, and I was still fatigued, but I was still trying at the end and getting pumps from the exercises vs just dead legs.
That looked disgusting, don’t ever show me that again ![]()
The ME days are hard as hell.
I got up and did a couple hours of yard work and tidied up for today’s open house (anyone want to buy this place??) and then took the kids to IHOP on the way to the gym (eggs and protein pancakes for this hero). I just lifted and now I’m watching them go down the water slide at the pool. They bicker, but they’re each others’ support.

Was supposed to be incline, but this was the one day ever that benches were free and incline was not. I went with a slightly closer than normal grip, for no real reason.

Definitely could have jumped to 265 or 275 (probably not 275), but I’m trying to be smart about staying with the recommended lower RPE (8, in this instance) on the heavier sets.

TfP out!
On another note, and maybe @simo74 knows, do the old dudes who just walk around naked in the locker room with a towel on their shoulder not realize everything is just out? Like maybe I’m doing them a favor if I let them know.
Not that I’m old or anything, unlike @simo74, so I can only speculate here, but my working theory is those OldNudeDudes’ motive is their knowledge that everything’s hanging out, and the shouldered towel ironically emphasizes their awareness.
I have no idea what sort of locker rooms you are hanging out in. Maybe they are doing it to impress you.
Sounds like the right ones
