Silver and Steel

I love Bernard Cornwall books, read all his non sharpe ones!

I have to admit I have a massive fear in life, it’s that Train for Pain does loads of conditioning and his arms get tiny.

Sometimes I wake up in cold sweats just thinking about it.

The King Arthur series was really good too!
The archer/ grail one was a little slower, but still enjoyable.

Never fear - I’ll still attack some arm days! I am tending to just gravitate towards Meadows’ stuff in the weight room and my athlete itch is scratched with these classes.

Today was speed bench and push muscles and half an hour incline treadmill. I’m hoping to find a time for a class again tomorrow!

Did spin today. Not sure I’ll be able to fit my lift in, but that would just push me back to Saturday which is not a big deal

@rugby_lifting, @SvenG and @TrainForPain I see they are filming a movie that comes after The Last Kingdom. I for one am excited for more content after thinking the show was the end of it all.

Yes sir! Apparently they had plotted out the series before the last book(s), so the movie is going to finish Uhtred’s tale. The book series definitely ended satisfyingly.

Today my wife joined me in the gym, so it ended up being leg day! Always fun.

Nice!!! And they are making the warlord chronicles into a tv series as well (can’t remember if that’s been mentioned on here before or not).

I’ve not actually read much since completing my masters degree. After reading so much literature I lost my love for reading slightly. I’ve still got warlord to start.

I’ve watched The Last Kingdom several times. Love it!

If you want more viking culture, watch Vikings on Amazon Prime. After watching all six seasons, go back to Netflix and watch Vikings: Valhalla.

Vikings was run on TV (I think it was the History Channel) so it’s just a hair under rated R.

Loved Vikings! I haven’t started Valhalla yet.

How are you doing?

I’ve seen some of the Vikings. I think I’ve seen 4 seasons. Been thinking I need to go back and finish it. It is a bit slower pace than the last kingdom, so it’s a bit harder for me since I have the attention span of a squirrel.

Then you’ve seen the good seasons

Doing pretty good. We have 27 days of school left, but who’s counting? (Truthfully, I counted so I could lesson plan).

Our newest baby girl is 5 months old and healthy. She can also melt your heart with her smile. She’s such a happy baby. We’re spoiled.

@mnben87 he’s not wrong.

Just watched the first episode of “Last Kingdom” during an easy cycling ride. Great show so far, I’m totally hooked.

That’s great! That’s the setup episode too; it’s much more fast-paced from here.
If you really get into it, I definitely recommend the books as well. The show is great, but the books are on a whole other level.

The last few days I’ve been knocking out house projects and got absolutely wrecked with an allergy-borne sinus infection (I’m not used to Georgia spring); I was useless for a couple days. A doc drugged me up and I went to the gym for a pull workout today… with plenty of curls for @simo74 and @rugby_lifting!

Had a follow up doctor visit that went really well. Blood pressure is under control on the minimum medicine, eGFR is back in range (that one was starting to worry me when I was on the diuretic), everything looked pretty good. LDL was borderline, but he wants to do a heart CT anyway, so we’ll see if that’s causing any buildup. He wants me to lose a little weight, but I think we can agree on that. All in all, it looked better than it has in a couple years so that’s good.

Pretty baller push workout today (with no skin classes, you monsters).

…but I’m going back this afternoon to do one of the cardio classes. Ha!

I now see my typo says “no skin class” and I’m leaving that because it’s better than spin

That was a really hard leg workout today after softball and yard work. I’ll actually write this one down. I kept everything at a weight I could really control to up the misery level.

  1. Lying leg curl
Kind of a weird machine the way the pad sloped off, but I could get my ankles all the way to my butt while keeping my hips down so it was great
    Couple warmup sets
    70/16
    80/14
    90/12
    100/12 + 80/8 + 70/8

  2. Leg press
2+ second pause at the bottom
    1pps/8
    2pps/8
    3pps/8
    4pps/8
    5pps/8
    6pps/8
    7pps/8 + 6pps/6 + 5pps/4

  3. Machine squat
I didn’t love this machine. It kind of stuck in the bottom. Tried to do all these very deep.
    Handful of warmups
    200/8
    220/8
    260/8
    260/8 + 220/6 + 180/4

  4. BSS drop set of death
    KBs this time
    31/8 + 8s + 19/8 + 8s + 9/8 + 8s + BW/8 + 8s

  5. Leg extension
    Don’t remember weights at all
Did 4-5 sets of 8 working up
Then a drop set of death where I did 5 or 6 reps and then held 5 seconds at the top x 5 plates going down
