Ratchet- you can have some of my bulk! ![]()
I’m wondering what happens to the Physique Clinic guys three, six or twelve months after their experience, and I’m talking about all body types here.
Who is getting the most in term of knowledge out of the clinic? The guy who spends three months sipping 4-5 shakes a day or the guy who actually has to follow a real diet?
And what about the outrageous amount of supplements both the fat and normal guys are taking? Is that a real life scenery?
I mean, should we (participants and readers) look at the Physique Clinic as something we can learn from, a sort of four, five or whatever months long advanced course on nutrition, training and supplementation or is it supposed to be more like a plastic surgery visual gallery where we are just supposed to look at the befores and afters in amazement?

I guess my point is kinda that only a handfull of people will relate to and appreciate the effort that the clinic ectos go through, while more people will enjoy the fat loss clinics. You don’t have to be fat to enjoy reading about how someone’s life changes completely as they shed a whole other person off of their bodies. Reading about changes in how they view foods, the people around them etc is all good reading and food for thought for all of us.
So who do you cater to? The 5% or the 95%? Seeing how we’re all potential customers, and this is a form of marketing…
I’m not saying “please, no more ectos”, I’m just saying that I understand why they want more fat loss clinics.
I think you’re off on this one. And Shugart too. I enjoy following all categories, but I enjoy the ectos journey to add mass the most. And I wouldn’t really put myself in an ecto or endo category. If I was forced to pick one, I’d have to say meso. And I think WAY more than 5% would be most interested in the ectos. And what percentage of fat loss clinics do we need? Currently it is at 75%. When the clinic started and Trojan was still here, it was still 60%. That’s plenty. If there are going to be three fat loss clincs there should at least be more than one mass gain clinic.
That’s a good point…my hopes (if I were to get selected) would that I would be given the proper tools to learn how to lose the weight properly and then MAINTAIN that weight once it’s gone!..because then why did I spend all that time busting my ass if I’m just going to put the weight right back on…So, do you think the participants will have the chance to stay in the clinic a little while longer once they reach there goal?

Perhaps this is who we should get to coach the ectos - a guy who’s one himself and put on tons of muscle through proper diet and exercise.
The same dude who put on 20lbs eating peanut butter bagels and drinking gallons of protein shakes? That one?
(bulking!!ahhh!!MY EYES!)
Joking aside, I was always suprised that there was going to be some weekly transformation log of guys building muscle - it takes a years to make good progress, so in a few weeks you won’t see very much really.
Maybe a photo once every 3 months would have been more entertaining/realistic/noticeable.
I figure since it’s T-Nation shipping out the free supplements and providing their valuable coaching time, it’s entirely up to them who they choose for the clinic.
If they decide to only use gay midgets from Australia, that’s their fuckin choice.

Would you please leave logic out of this? Thanks.

Well I can’t speak for the rest of the Physique Clinic members as I do not know their plans, but I fully plan on keeping up my log when I am done with the Physique Clinic.
Thibs has offered free coaching for several months past the Clinic so I should still be able to provide decent information to people that want it as far as my training goes.
I would hope others plan on keeping their logs going and keeping people updated on their advances even if it’s only a monthly basis.
There’s been a lot of discussion recently about T-Nation selecting the Physique Clinic participants and changing their mission statement in an effort to make more money by focusing more (although not exclusively) on fat people trying to get ripped.
I don’t think there’s anything wrong with that. There’s no way I can sit here and type that Biotest shouldn’t gear their promotions towards increasing their bottom line.
At the same time, I do mourn the loss of the renegade feel, and I kinda wish they’d alter the site to cut out the children and know-it-all newbies and bring back the vets. I know I’d shut up and listen.
Why is there a Physique Clinic? There’s so much information here there’s no excuse for anyone to not acheive their goals in record time. Is it motivation? Does it require the entirity of the T-Nation community to look over an individuals back to get them to work hard? Is that why the forums are filled with blogs?
What ever happened to shutting up and lifting? What ever happened to squats and milk?
/rant.
the whey got too expensive and some douche is curling in the squat rack

I’d remove one of the fat-guy clinics and replace it with a performance clinic, with someone like Eric Cressey or Mike Robertson in command. You wouldn’t care about looks, just performance. A few vids instead of a few pics.
YES I haven’t checked the Physique Clinics out in awhile, (I catch up on Crew’s sometimes) but to me it is BORING for people just trying to get in shape. You need someone who is TRAINING to COMPETE in ANYTHING.
Why doesn’t Biotest sponsor athletes? I know they do sponsor G.S.P and Stan McQuay but thats about it I think.

I would love to see them train someone for an event or sport! I think that is part of why I am liking Bartl’s and now Crew’s Physique Clinics so much.
To see an athletic improvement would be just as great as shedding fat or putting on weight.

I 4th this. Great idea.
I want to do the Physique Clinic but I think I am too old at 40. I hope they do older people too later down the line.
Er Gus is 36 so i doubt 4 yrs would be THAT MUCH of a stretch ![]()
Your L0 though might be a different story
I think it’s a massive shame that there will be less (or no) skinny guys.
I admit their results aren’t as dramatic but I assume that some of the objectives of the clinic was to share good advice.
I’ve learned more from Crewpierce’s and Trojan’s clinics - great training tips, what a clean bulk looks like etc.
In fact lots of the fat people could learn from it too. Once they are lean and they come to their next bulk, they need to know how to do it properly without turning into a fat lump again.
And if you can say that skinny people are just whining about not eating enough, fat people are just the same… except they have no self control and can’t STOP eating. They are both legitimate challenges which IMO, should be addressed.

Crew is showing everyone you don’t have to pound Big Macs to put on muscle. His heart thanks him.
I like a wide variety of participants. I hope they do keep some hard gainers in there for the younger folks who eat junk to get big. We have enough bad eating out there, let’s show folks the right way.
Besides I am looking forward to seeing how Crew does in his competition.

lift heavy, eat protein with green veggies 5 times a day, omega eggs are your friend, just like protein shakes, Surge and fish oil. oh, and HOT-ROX, I love my HOT-ROX…
15% body fat lost since December… another few months and I’ll start a surplus calorie phase.
I honestly dont see them ignoring gainers completely, but i can understand wanting more fat → thin then thin → bulked. I find the bulking Physique Clinics rather boring since like others have said, you really dont see much change in a few months. Now if Physique Clinics were a year or something, it would be insane fun to watch.
