Shoulder Injury - Left Side Imbalance

Hi all, it’s been a while since I’ve been on here… I will be 36 in March… so about a year ago I somehow injured my left shoulder, got an MRI and the interpretation was small supscap tear, inner tear of the supra, and possible irregular SLAP tear. Problem is the surgeon says he doesn’t think the SLAP is indicated according to my physical eval… and he said he isn’t even sure he sees it on the MRI.

Ok well, he gave me a cortisone injection and sent me on my way. This was about 2 months ago. It hasn’t helped. I am not in severe pain, however my symmetry is getting unbalanced, pec and shoulder are somewhat visibly smaller and left bi is much smaller than it used to be and in comparison to my right side. All that being said, since the doc says the MRI isn’t showing a severe physical problem, what’s my issue?? Is it a result of poor nervous system activation? Should I go back and push for further treatment? Seek chiropractic? Hire a trainer who works with injury? Working out is and has always been a lifestyle for me and I am extremely unhappy under these current circumstances. Not sure when I’ll get back to check your responses, but I would appreciate anything that could help. So frustrated…

Hey Bro I feel your pain! I have a tear in my right rotator cuff. It is a very small tear and it sounds just like yours. I did it 10/20/09 and It is just starting to feel better. My MD stated that I had bicep tendinitis and I should rest it. He gave me some anti-inflams and sent me on my way. I waited like 2 months and it seemed like it was getting worst. I am like you. I am 36 and working out is my everything and passion. I couldn’t wait any longer so I went to a sports doctor. I found out that it was a small tear from an MRI as well.

The new sports doc gave me a better oral anti-inflam and added physical therapy. The combo is working finally. He said since the tear is small it should respond well to the physical therapy. I feel your pain bro! I can’t wait to hit the gym full force. I will def add the rotator cuff strengthening exercises to my shoulder day. You should def check out a sports doc and do physical therapy since you do not have a full rotator cuff tear. I will start to work for you bro! I am still frustrated as you are. You are not alone. Best of luck Bro!
