Sunday night spaghetti and meatballs.

The whole fam damily including my beloved mother in law.

My other hobby…who doesn’t enjoy a nice flower arrangement?

I just popped in. You and the son are in a meet together? Awesome! Your first one? How’s the little one lifting - as strong as his paw?
And you’re not nearly as self-conscious in your singlet as I was.
Sen Jr. is wait listed. Hopefully he’ll get in. He’s been lifting for about 2 years pretty religiously. He can deadlift around 260 I think was what he pulled when we tested him for the meet. We don’t have a bench so he’s not going to press too much and without a rack he has never squatted very heavy. He’s the self-conscious one so he won’t go to a commercial gym or the one at his school in order to bench and squat.
We mainly entered him so he could list it on his college resumes. You can’t really impress the admissions office with ‘lifted in my garage’, but ‘Member of USPLA, Competitive Power lifter, etc’ sounded pretty good.

Good point. Also, if he’s in a weight class/division with few others, he stands a chance of winning something, no matter how mediocre his lifts. I won first place in novice 220 lb only because I was the only one in it.

I figured I’d destroy the 40-44 age bracket, but there’s a beast in Maryland that benches ike 365 at 181 and squats and deadlifts mid 500s. I’ve got a few years to catch the bastard.
He cooks, he flowers, he luvs his mother in law…I’m full on homo here Bro!
But seriously, hope your son gets to compete with his Dad, and good luck to you (both hopefully).
Page 2 again ??? What’s a guy gott do around here…I give you food porn and singlet porn…y nada!

Why are you so concerned about weight class if you’re not looking to set records? (are you?)
Seems to me like it’s taking a lot of the pleasure out of the whole process for you. Don’t misunderstand me, I think you look lean and healthy which is good.
Just my .02.

Hmmm…good question…I guess because my goal was to lift in the 181 class so…now if I fail…well…I’ve failed whether it was a stupid goal or not…
My dad had his first heart attack at age 48…7 years older than me…I’m always thinking about it, but thinking about it more and more as I get older and see pictures of him when he was 41…the old man didn’t look too bad at 41…looked kinda like me actually…at 71 he’s a 250 lb wreck…still happy and mobile and I love the guy, but I don’t want to walk down that road…was thinking if I entered a meet every year at 181 I’d have a goal to stick with at a relatively healthy weight for my 5’8-ness…
Can I get up off the couch now ? ![]()

Okay Sen couple of questions.
Do you get annual physicals and blood work?
What are your current cholesterols?
I hate to burst people’s bubbles but NOT everything can be regulated by diet and exercise. It is a great adjunct and tool however cannot be the only thing in your arsenal.
In case you do not know I am a Physician Assistant so I know what I am talking about.

People ALWAYS trying to burst my bubblez!
Yes to annual physicals and blood work. Cholesterols were a little high last year. Don’t have the exact numbers with me. Haven’t been in this year yet.
We’re heading to West Point this weekend. Sen Jr. is hoping to get an appointment.
Anyone know any cool places to visit off base?

Am I allowed to wear a shirt underneath !?!?
Most feds require a shirt for everything but deadlift.
