San Diego GPP Training

Hey All!

Just wanted to share our GPP Training for the Self-Loathing session from this past Saturday 11/11/06 in San Diego, Mission Beach, CA.

So far in attendance we have:

Josh B. (Me the brown haired guy)
Erik A. (The blonde guy)
Ben L. ( The Tan guy)

It was a very exciting day because we had finally finished constructing our “Drag Sled of Torture” and were finally going to be able to torture ourselves.

Now our equipment lists consists of the following:

2x45lb plates with handles for Farmers Walks and Sled dragging.

Drag Sled

Keg

Cinder Block

30-35lb rock

Bowling ball (Not sure what to do with this yet)

So we started out with a written plan, an over enthusastic plan I might add that would be widdled down do to the puke factor.

But what we did do was very constructive and a great work out.

3x10 over head snatch keg throws
3x10 Heave Ho! Keg throws (side throws like tossing a dwarf, no offence to any dwarfs)
3x10 Forward Pass Rock Throws

When all throws were completed, thrower had to pick up item and run back to start.

1x100ft 45lb sled drag in sand sprint
1x100ft 90lb sled drag in sand sprint
1x200ft 45lb sled drag in sand sprint
1x100ft 45lb backwards sled drag sprint

This was a lot of fun and very exauhting!

If anyone reading this is from SD and wants to join us shoot me a PM.

Also if anyone eles has experience with GPP I could really use some help in designing a good program for us to use, since it seems the one I designed caused us to use all our gas to fast.

Above picture is running the rock back.

Ben doing some Overhead Rock Throws

Eric: OverHead Snatch Keg Throw

Ben: Rock Throw

Ben and Eric: Running it back

Eric: Still Running

Ben: Drag Sled of Torture

Me: Drag Sled Torture

Me: Trying to run away from the sled, it keeps following me.

Erik: Backwards drag sled, facing the enemy.

Erik + Drag Sled = Tortured

Perplexed on-lookers =)

Looks awesome!

I’m pissed that you are able to train in shorts and t-shirts on the beach! I could train on the beach here but it’s covered in ice and snow. And in the 30s. Again, I hate you.

Great work guy all I can add is scrap the plans Yup scrap them for a large part. Come in fyling blind and make them up wing it by what you have and as often as you can add the competition factor. going for time actually racing at the same time et. Rep in a time limit, distance in time.

Complexes just think of the oddest most disgusting and silly things you can think off and hell do it.

Carry keg over head for said distance drop and throw bowling ball back same distance as many thorws as it takes grab farmer and run back to keg, throw keg over head behind back all the way back to the start, Grab sled and drag that SOB to the finish and puke. Now the other guys do the same thing and try and beat it.

Keg snatches, get a rope tug of war. go distance and trade impliments on person doing the farmers the othe carry keg over head them swapand return its a team contest. then team two goes and attepmts to beat you.

Keg volley ball set up a net and play hot friggin potato with the keg or even no net just toss that sob and the next person has to get and throw it to the next ASAP

Get creative all bring any thing they can all be used for something and have a blast,

Phill

Right on! Thanks for your input Phill! Much appreciated! Your T-Cell thread was my inspiration for getting into GPP training.

If there is anyone in San Diego who wants to join us this weekend PM me.

Very, very cool.

If you ever come out to SD feel free to join us =)

I was on Portsmouth staying with a buddy for 9 days in october. I’ll be back in march, and likely going to find you guys.
I’ll post on this thread and see if you’re still doin’ your thing.

man, if im ever anywhere near Cali im going to damn sure be on that beach doing some ass kicking, vomit inducing GPP. This just reminds me how much i miss my own workout of torture and how i need to find somewhere, since as you remember i was confronted by a park ranger at my last session.

long story short, im one jealous bastard right now.

p.s. you ever decide on a new strength routine ?

Right on man, we’ll still be here.
