I used to post a lot way back in the T-Mag days, but been pretty non-existent for a while. I figured I would start a log and get back into things, maybe it will help someone else or stir up interest in our gym, The Warehouse Gym in League City TX (southeast houston), TheWarehouseGym.net. If you check out the 2011 World’s Strongest Man, one of our guys is on it, Josh. So it’s a pretty killer gym to train at. Come check it out if you’re in the H-town area.
About me, I’m 35 been training just about my whole life. Sporadic as a kid, but got serious around 19 while in the Marine Corps. I competed in powerlifting and strongman for about the past 7 years from 181 to 242. Been battling injuries the last few years including a shoulder scope, pateller ACL knee reconstruction, and some steroid shots in my cervical spine because I have messed up discs at C5-6 and C6-7 from the Marines. More regular cortisone shots than I can count in elbows and shoulders.
Equipped APF PR’s of 584 squat 429 bench and 600 deadlift at 198. Can’t really wear gear anymore as it messes with my neck too much so I’m rawdogging for a while. PR raw lifts are 445, 305 and not really sure what my deadlift is but I pulled a pretty easy double with 475 a few weeks ago so I’d guess somewhere between 500-550. I haven’t maxed because deads seem to aggravate my neck more than anything so I take it easy with them.
I’ve done just about everything wrong that one can do and have managed to find what keeps me happy. It’s based on a combination of what works for me and adjusted with Mike T’s Reactive Training Manual and TRAC. I HIGHLY recommend the TRAC, pretty great app and cheap.
On to the training:

Monday Feb 6
warmup
shoulders, lower back, neck, leg kicks/swings
empty logx15x2
Log clean and press (clean each rep)
155x5
155x6
165x4
Nice! You have a ton of experience and big numbers. I have neither so I’ll be following closely.
And I’m considering using Mike T’s Reactive stuff or Josh Bryant.

Welcome, there are a lot of us old grunts in here. What fed do you lift in?
ooh rah
I’ve lifted in APA and APF. I mostly stick to APF now, as our gym runs a big APF meet every year and most of my lifting friends are either APF and/or SPF. Oh and I’m an APF judge too.

I go to work for one day, and the kids are running amuk! lol
Today

Recovery work
rolling/stretching whole body 30min
walking with baby weight vest 20min HR@120-130

I am a bit of a psychopath with regards to recovery nowadays since I’ve been so beat up for so long. TRAC was showing high body stress and my HRV score was way down so I decided to do some active recovery. Also a good excuse to hang at the gym and BS haha.
