If you’re working hard enough, you won’t need to do arms traps/whatever.

Your arms will be just fine with heavy pressing and pulling.

Normally I would agree with you. But after having gone through this twice, I see no problem in doing direct arm work. I used to think chins were enough. I just started adding concentration curls and have seen immediate growth - 0.25" in the last 10 days. No pump, cold, from 17.5" to 17.75". No joke.
I think I was trying to make the same point as you: do the program as written.

I do do direct arm work from time to time, it just depends on the day.

Try pulling a heavy 1x5 pm deadlift and see if your traps don’t feel it. Your arms will be just fine with heavy pressing and pulling.
I think that this would be an excellent program for you. 5x5 is tried and gets results in most people. I am using a variant of the 5x5 right now, and am seeing good results. I would say to try it as its written for a month or so, and see how you do. If you want to add isolation movements to it, go for it, but make sure that they don’t take the place of the compound movements. The compound movements are where you will see the most gains. I also would not go crazy with isolation movements either, say 3x5-8 fairly light weight.

Good luck and happy lifting!!
