So, while browsing some articles I realized what I had considered a deadlift for the past year or two is actually a Romanian Deadlift.
Im pulling 245 3x8 right now. Definately room to go up in weight, so i think its about time i start taking it seriously (Im 5’11, ~175 lbs)
Just curious as to peoples input or any articles on Romanian vs Std Deadlift in terms of building Mass and strength (and heck, if you wanna throw in a comparison to Sumo’s id be more than interested). The goal is to lean out a little in the next 2 months (so the goal is to use the deadlift to help preserve mass and strength really, taking into account that i’d probably benefit from simply switching it up for a while too).
Sorry if this seems a little too basic of a question or if its somewhere on the site i missed.
Romanian deadas work hamstrings more so than regular deads, due to greater hip extension and a better stretch at the bottom position. If you prefer more hams development, go with romanian.
Sumo works quads/glutes a bit more, due to the wide stance and upright posture. If you want to develop those muscles more, do that version.
I find regular deads work mainly the back, with little hams and glutes involvement.

I gotta disagree with the last point. When I do conventional deads, I feel it more in my ass than anything. I mean think about it you can’t just lift something with your back anyways that doesn’t make any sense.
