a tricep bar!!
The mystery is solved!
I DID say tricep bar lol.
Jan 27/07 Implement training
Well, finally I did it, broke the strongman cherry !
-A couple sets of a 200lb Atlas stone, lapping and extension and one load
-Log clean and press: 100lbx8reps, 120x3, 150x1
-Farmer’s walk: 1 trip w/110lbs (no drops), 2 trips with 160 (second trip, no drops…first trip one drop at far end of course)
That was fun ! Gotta go back and train there again. Learned a whole lot and I suprised myself with the log lift. I also learned magnesium carbonate is my friend lol. Team Barbarian is a great team to train with; nice guys and finally a group who’re stronger and more knowledable to work with me in person !

Great job bro and congrats!!!
Phill
Oh btw, I got a burned copy of three strongman DVDs; Svend’s, Juoko Ahola’s (my favourite of the three) and Hugo Girard’s. Very cool stuff…got it for five bucks. Svend’s DVD was cool to watch, though. ![]()
ME Upper Jan 28/07
-Standing Millitaries: barx3, 65x3, 95x3, 115x2, 135x1, 145x1(pr), 3x1x125lbs
-Rack Lockouts: 135x5, 185x5, 165x5, 160x5, 155x5
-Neutral grip DB press: 40x5, 45x5, 50x5, 45x5, 40x5
-2 Sets of lying crucifix laterals
-2 sets of face pulls
-4 sets of core work
As per the Team’s reccomendation, I worked on neutral grip db presses, rack lockouts for my triceps and twice the upper-back stabilizer work as normal. I lack rhomboid and lower-trap strength as well as having weak arms. I also need to work on explosiveness. Bands would be awesome, but I don’t have any. Perhaps I should purchase some. On a side note, I ramped up too much, too early on the rack lockouts.
Also, question, can I do DE upper AND lower in one day ? As in, just one excersice per i.e. Millitaries and Deads for example ?
Brent, my only concern would be perhaps there’s some great evil in training the DE method with both upper and lower body.
Of course, this is due to my ignorance of that method. As G.I Joe would saying ‘Now you know and knowing is half the battle !’.

and you said your max push press is around 150, I think you are highly underestimating your self.
I bet with some good leg drive you could get 180-190 up
1/28/07 Deadlifts
well no event training today (rain)
so I decided to do deadlifts as I missed my workout on friday
135x5
225x3
315x3
365x0 wouldn’t even budged, my deadlift is seriously bugging me something is just off and I am not sure how to fix it. I should be able to do 365 for reps fairly easily I used to do 365 5x5!
High rack pulls with a hold
decided to do these to work on grip, bar was was about midway up my thigh so it was only a couple inches of ROM. I counted to 20 on each hold but it was probaly more like 10 seconds.
225x1 10 second hold
315x1 10 second hold
385x1 10 second hold
435x1 10 second hold
505x1 5 second hold
most weight I’ve ever held in my hands by far felt damn good. I think that pretty much proves my problem with the deadlift is not lower back strength.
One arm DB rows
75lbs 3 sets of 10 reps
Well I am going to go stick my hands in a bucket of ice water if anyone has any ideas on my deadlift dilemna let me know.
Thanks
Oh btw for all the people that love spike try taking it with a glass of grapefruit juice, TC wrote something about it months ago and it sure works! Really makes Spike even more intense!

Nice IDing those weak points and bands there cool but not a must.
DE same day SURE Im going to change to much that format in a few more weeks have upper day lower day an event day then one other day will be assistance/recovery for technique speed etc. But I know many who combine the DE I do beleive Meat on the westside PL thread does doing ME up and lowe and one dynamic day and hes one strong SOB
Keep it up,
Phill

How often are you doing DL’s man they are Killer on the whole body muscular and CNS and as loads go up even worse. Id limit it ONCE a week alternate heavy and light At the most for a bit if your over doing them they well regress.

Ok ok, sorry BRETT. Lol…And what’s wrong with 1337 in a forum screen name anyway ;P. I am from the internet, after all.
I think I will switch to the DE upper/ME lower and vice-versa as well as accessory day and strongman day. I had read about that before somewhere; elitefts I believe. Time to investigate.
DAY ONE:
-ME Upper
-DE Lower
-Dumbell shoulder work
-Rotator/upper back stabilizing work
-Core work
DAY TWO:
-ME Lower
-DE Upper
-Posterior Chain work
-Calves
-Grip work
DAY THREE (Accessory stuff):
-Rows
-Lats
-Biceps
-Triceps
-Shrugs
-Core work
DAY FOUR: EVENTS
This is what I am gonna try out for a while. Thanks for the ideas, guys.
KO in regards to my push press…I posted something thinking we were talking about your push press. Apparently, a Mod caught that and prevented me from looking like an even bigger idiot than usual. Or maybe they didn’t. But if they did, thanks to whoever did it lol.
But yeah, I was told I have strength but lack explosiveness. I am gonna do some DE work on my squats from now on to work on leg drive. Gonna add in some squat jumps as per reccomendation as well. I learned quite a bit, like I said, from Josh from Team Barbarian. He also showed me how to increase range of motion without weaking myself as well as a core warmup I used today, yesterday and will use from now onwards.
Enjoy my first training session, albeit condesced. That other dude, Junior, that guy is strong. He cleaned and pressed 230 like it was nothing. If he weighs more than 180-190, I’d be suprised. Plus he was racing with 160 per hand on the farmer’s walk like it was nothing whereas I was panting like a dog.
Awesome video! Keep up the hard work and keep the footage coming!
Hell yes keep it up nail the technique yoll be killing it in no time.
Phill
Nice job you guys, more and more pr’s every week, that’s great.
The past week went pretty good for us. I nailed a quarter squat with 645, by far heavier than what I have done before. My partner got 855, and made it look easy, sometimes I hate him.
My overhead continues to be iffy. We worked on clean and jerk with the 2.5" axel on saturday. I cleaned 245 with ease, something that I’ve struggled with before. After that, it got tricky. I missed 265, then went to a continental clean. Pressed that pretty easy as well.
Then we went to 285, which I was able to clean, but once on my shoulders it felt like 400. I started to dip down and push, as soon as I started to come up lost all momentum and just dumped it. Still was a PR on that implement though, so that was good. Also hit 400lb duck walk for 70ft, then 445 for 20ft, both pr’s. Everyone eat big this week!
