400x20 is my goal.
I salute you all in this quest! Seems like I was stuck at a 350 squat for a couple of years. I finally switched to a lower volume routine (along the lines of DC training) and squatted twice a week for one set of a 20 rep max. These are f-ing brutal, but effective. I think I started around 200 for 20 reps, then bumped up the weight consistently over 6-8 months until i was squatting 315 for 20. One day for shits and giggles I went for a max squat and smoked 405 for three good reps. It was surreal…just stood there staring at the four plates loaded on each side for awhile in disbelief. Now if I could just get my damn deadlift up…
I’ll go for a new 3RM on back squat on monday, I hope to get 335x3.
I completed 2 weeks of front squat, where I got up to 275x3 (last max on FS was 290x3 and 300x1, before the spring final exams, lol).
More info on monday.
Squat tomorrow night, I’m gunning for 10x290 on my last set. Leg training has been fuck*ng brutal for me the past few month and my knees start to tell me I’d need to back up a bit.

I did it. Had a shitty couple of days, was pissed as fuck, and said today I will do it.
395x2, said fuck it, and hit 400x1. All the way down, all the way up.
Now excuse me while I attempt to walk to my fridge.[/quote]
Congrats man.
Thanks. Now who is next? Whos gonna blow my new pr out of the water?

405 x 3. Felt real good and went up easier than I thought it should so then did 425 x 2 shortly thereafter cuz I was straight pumped…though a little more rest would’ve probably been beneficial.
Just for the record that’s not “blowing it out of the water” …just something to keep you hungry bro ![]()
To anyone who’s a bit taller or not 100% comfortable with the bar high on their back, try dropping it down your back a bit. I made the switch about a month ago and love it. Keep at it boys.
Fuck yeah, thats what I want: competition, someone to beat. Congrats bro, I look forward to breaking that ceiling.

You got it big man. You’ll be there before you know it, so keep those sights looking ahead…450 and on.

Im in the same situation, Im right around the 400 area on squat, but I still havent pulled more than 385. It sucks balls.
I’ll get in on some of this action.
Started training PL’ing properly now. Squatting with the rest of the guys at my gym properly on Thursday this week. My current best is 170kgx3 (374), I reckon I can nail the last 15kg to make it a 408 squat on Thursday for atleast a double. Hit a 440 deadlift on Friday, so I reckon i’ll smoke it.
EDIT: Got it today: 408 for a double then 418 for a double. I’ll get 440 with ease next week. That was in just a belt and socks, well below parallel @ 202lbs bodyweight.
Have to stay ahead of this one guy I train with. He’s about 50lbs heavier than me (conservative estimate!) and squats in a suit, squat shoes and wraps as well as a belt. He got 190 equipped today, so I want 440 in wraps minimum next week, probably 451.

405x2, 415x1.
Had tight knee wraps due to left knee hurting, made a huge difference.
whoa you guys are way ahead of me there.
i still haven’t squatted 300 yet.
normally max with a belt at competition.
my best has been 275 lbs with a belt and wrist wraps.
going on vacation tommorow but i’m thinking 5/3/1 when i get back.
stay strong
hit a 315x6 again
form wasn’t so great but i guess if im going to make excuses i was really tired beforehand.
i’m confident i can hit it for x7-8 next time.

Props Dixie. Feels good huh?
I hit 405 x 5 yesterday, gonna back it off for a week then probably go for 455…which I’m already eager as all hell for.
I’m sure you’re good for 425 so knock that out then chase 455 with me.

Get a good spotter and just go in there and bang out 10 reps Live. Make that the goal for the day, no matter what. Once you hit 3 plates for 10 reps it won’t seem like much anymore…then you can knock out 335 for 7-8, then in no time you’ll be doing 365 for 3-4-5 reps and bam, 405 is cake.
Just like that ![]()

ha, i can hardly find a good bench spotter let a lone a squat one.
i go to failure anyway and im not worried about dropping the weight cause theres a decent catch bar so when i cant get up, i just go down like 2 more inches and im good.

Yeah I feel you on that one man.

Yeah I’ve done that scenario before, but if you got someone to help you with that 1 little sticking point or to just pull you back a little bit when you struggle it’s awesome cuz then you’re able to grind out those real tough reps.
Easier said than done, I know.

Hit 425x1 today.
A couple of weeks ago I did 315 x 12 (parallel only), so that probably makes for about 400lb, but never tried a 1RM.
