Rest Intervals

Alright so I was benching the other day, and since i’m extrememly restless most of the time I dislike rest intervals and all cuz i just wanna get goin and all. Well anyways I was benching, squatting, deadlifting for max effort for a while but only waiting like 2 minutes and 30 seconds maximum between the intervals.

Well the other day i waited 5 minutes, (i know u should wait 3-5 min between geavy lifts, but i was being stubborn). So yeah i waited 5 minutes and my bench went up 10 lbs. In an article i read earlier it said you can even wait 10 minutes?..is this true…it was an article on this site also. BUT 10 minutes is a friggen long time, so wouldit just be better to stick with the 3-5 min range. I can push it 6min if i must…but isnt anything over 5 or 6 min counterproductive?

dl- watchin those numbers go up.

Whatever it takes.

The only thing counterproductive would be not resting enough and getting an injury. That would be pretty counterproductive in my book.

During your strenght phases you could use alternating/full recovery…for example pair bench and chins…do a heavy set of bench, rest 2 min, do a heavy set of chins, rest 2 min, go back and do another set of bench, etc…this way you have 4 min between bench sets, but you’re still getting some other work in and not just sitting around.
