A guy named Mike posted a question on the forum a few days ago that I
responded to with a very cocky-ass attitude, and it’s something I feel
needs to be addressed. He just recently came back with an additional
post thanking those who helped him, and flaming me and a couple other
guys. Just want to say, I deserved it. And sorry for not helping you out.
What changed my attitude was not only his recent post, but something
that happened to me yesterday that sheds some light on this topic.
Basically, I’m not great with computers. I know the basics, but not a lot!
A friend was over yesterday trying to help me install some programs and
work out some bugs in my PC, and he made me feel like a total idiot! I
mean, it got me thinking, nobody knows everything about everything, and
there are people who don’t know a lot about lifting weights. So what! Just
because I know that I can’t get buff without certain training gear and
nutritional know-how, doesn’t mean I should be an asshole to those who
may not. I don’t spend a lot of time studying computer technology
(maybe I should learn more), but other people have, and their help is
greatly appreciated. Anyhow, the point is, we need to be a little more
‘sensitive’ to people who are ‘newbies’…pointing someone in the right
direction doesn’t take that much effort. Someone who is new to the
forum can be guided to take the appropriate steps before they’re
‘flamed’…stay cool, Mike and thanks all for listening.
Couldn’t have said it better myself!!!
Yes. Good post. Mike’s original post seemed real fishy though. Guess I was wrong too.
