This diet isn’t going how I would like…
It would be different if I were seeing visual changes just by looking. The instant results that this diet offers is motivational…but I’m not seeing it.
I think this diet was awesome when I had a significant amount of weight to lose (30+lbs) but now that I am in the 10-15lb range of my goal weight, it’s been rough. VERY mentally draining. It’s not even a hunger issue. Just eating the same things everyday and not training how I want, for what? To lose a lb/week??
I will weigh in and take measurement/pics tomorrow and let that be the judge…pictures don’t lie!! After that I might give it two more weeks. This is my 3rd week.
Maybe you’re doing too high a category? I assume you’re doing two because that’s what most people fall into I think.

btw, I made my kid mac n cheese for lunch…do you know how HARD it was to not just stand over the stove and shovel it in?! lol
Tomorrow is a refeed…can’t wait anymore.
Does anyone else find it pretty hard to get through the weekends? I make my refeeds on Thursday or Friday cause I lift during the week…and its hard to get back on track through the weekend with the kids home etc…guess its just one of those things.
Weekends aren’t too bad for me because I’m always running around doing errands.

I never considered being in the wrong category. I’d have to be at 24% BF to be a cat 1 according to the calc.
If I type in my weight with an unknown BF, it says 34.5% and my fat mass is 62lbs! I was 34% when I was 200+ lbs(and I’m not anymore, btw)
Hmm, I really don’t know then. Especially since I haven’t read the book in a while and I’m not a female. But if you’re not happy with the results then there’s no sense killing yourself on the diet.
I would suggest that the BF/BMI correlation is not so good. A site that I’ve used in the past, and is acceptably accurate is Diet Calculator, Body Fat Calculator.
Using BMI to correlate body fat is just as bad as using BMI to correlate fitness.

hmm, interesting…with that thing it comes up with 25% on the nose.
which seems about right! All of it is on my butt, haha.
Chim- I guess I can’t judge results until tomorrow. For all I know I’ve dropped 10 lbs. It doesn’t [I]feel[I] like it though…
I think there’s too much variation in women’s body types especially for a BMI/BF correlation. Big/small boobs and a big/small butt (I’ve seen lean women with big butts) will make HUGE changes to your “not losable” weight.
Well, after all the complaining I was doing, I’ve lost 9lbs in just over 2 weeks! Also, my hand held BF thing is saying 26% BF and my scale says 29%…hmmm
-.5" small waist
-4" belly
-1.5" butt
Noticeable progress in the pics too. I have to believe not all of that was just water lost.
So basically I’ve undone the damage I did through the Summer and I’m almost back to where I started.
I’m not looking to be rail thin, I’m not built for it anyway. I’d like to get below 170, just to SEE IT! I haven’t been there since my son was 3 months old. He’s 8.
165 is the number I have in my head.(I’, 5’9" and ya, I lift weights)

That’s pretty darn good progress for two weeks. Great job!
EDIT: that’s good progress regardless of time too.
Seriously, Chim, that before/after shot was amazing! Seeing the loss is great, but seeing where you came from and where you are now just emphasizes all the hard work you’re doing!

Thanks Greenie, it means a lot to hear things like that.

I must have missed this side by side comparison.
Refeed day is so yummy! But it’s funny because when nothing is really off limits you don’t really want it as much as you thought you did.
So far today:
corn chex
cottage cheese
rice chips on the way to the gym
and more rice chips on the way home
chicken
sweet potato
kashi cookie
1 mini chocolate bar
aaaand I pretty much feel done. I might sneak in some fruit or ice cream later.
Chim- do you adhere strictly to the 5 hour refeed rule? Do you think he suggests that time frame to give people more structure to not overdo it?
The start of the refeed is always awesome cause you think of all the great food you get… then you feel full and bloated and sad.
I stick to the 5 hours because I know I could eat a ton more, but if it ever comes to it I’d have an extra meal if I really wanted to. It depends on how much you eat, I think. The book recommends something like 1000-2000 over maintenance and for some that would be impossible in 5 hours.
You know… I think I’ve been counting my weeks wrong. By my count it’s been 15, but then I realized I started on July 5th, which is not 15 weeks ago, it’s 11ish.
you lost more in less time than you thought? Nothing wrong with that!
I myself don’t adhere to the 5hr rule. I’m conservative with my food and I don’t eat junk(well, not a lot of it!!).
I especially don’t eat if I’m not hungry.

Good point!
Do you aim for a target amount of calories for the refeed?
