Lorez, I call absolute BS on your 210lbs squat for 20 reps.
Just absolute heinous horseshit[/quote]
Lol, why’s that?
It’s not even an impressive number for 20 reps.

I dunno, I think it is quite impressive. If you did indeed accomplish 20 reps with 210lbs in one set

And this is why I personally question your advice regarding squatting.
So… for you, being the guy possesses this ‘non-impressive’ 20 rep squat, should be giving advice instead? Cmon man. Stahhhhp it.

That was 8 months ago. I’ve done a bit more squatting since then. I did about 650 squats in the month of February.
so where do you stand today?
Alright so here’s an update:
Did my daily high bar squats of 5 x 5 x 295lbs (beltless) with ease, so I decided to throw on a belt and hit 315lbs x 4. So definitely getting close.
I’d forgotten about this thread. Obviously I wasn’t in for the 315 challenge, but I figured I’d post a couple relevant things. Last night I did 10 sets of 3, first couple at 315, then the last 8 at 295. 315 was just too much for me to maintain for 10 sets and stay explosive. At the end of the workout, I realized I did the whole thing belt-less. If I had been thinking about it, I might have strapped on my belt and stayed at 315. But a good session either way.
As far as the 405x10 deadlift, I think I could hit it now. My 1rm is not what it was last September (500), but I’m in much better condition. If I remember, I’ll give it another shot at the end of this week.
Trucking right along… Work sets today will be 270x5x5 on squat, missed my first rep at 265, only missed one so I am adding weight anyway. Deadlifts today I think I am going for 285 no straps. I have been alternating sessions with the deadlift 20lbs forward (w/ straps) 10lbs back (w/o straps). So I should hit 305 come Monday for a set of 5.
Yesterday during Dan John’s workout B, my final squat set was 330x10. I haven’t DL’d in a few weeks since I started DJ’s program, but I had 325x6 a few weeks ago. 315 bench…now that may be a while!
Hit 345 for 3, wait 15 secs, hit another 3 on the deadlift yesterday.

Good job! Don’t know when I’ll give the deadlift thing a go since I’m more focused on getting it ready for a meet in early July (hoping for 235kg).
But I’ve made some progress on my previously stated goal of hitting 315 (142.5kg) for a beltless ATG 5 x 5. Have hit 140kg for 5 x 5 (last two sets belted), so it should come soon enough.
Well I maxed out Friday- Since Febuary my lifts are as such
Squat- 335 up from 265
Deadlift- 405 up from 315
Bench- 275 up from 235
Pretty happy with my progress there.

Just wanted to share that I did this last night. 10 dead stop reps, no straps. Probably had 12-13 in me, but since I’d hit my goal, I stopped.

I think a little of it is muscle memory as I have been at a lot of these weights before, prior to the 5 year layoff I have mentioned before. Plus I am sitting at 205 right now so I am kind of heavy. Kind of surprised at how quickly a lot of these lifts bounced back though. I have a 2 yr goal of a 1300 total at 198 but that may be a little ambitious.

In two years? Na, you should be able to hit it just fine I think.
I mean, you improved your deadlift by 90lb within 3 or so months. Muscle memory or not, that is impressive.
