Race to 315 Squat and Deadlift 2.0

I saw that someone had resurrected a two year old thread about this over in the PL forum. Lots of people back then thought it belonged here. So let’s get it started!

I started SL 5x5 in February, and I’m going to be starting 5/3/1 BBB as soon as my hard copy comes in the mail.

I’m going to test my maxes before I start, but I’m right around 240 x 5 squat and 260 x 5 DL now.

Who’s in!?

315 x 5 on both? Or just 315 x 1?

Not really sure where I stand right now; haven’t done deadlifts for a very very long time. I did rack pulls just below the knee for the first time yesterday, and got up to a 295x3 training max… so I’m not quite sure where that puts me on regular deads.

Squats I’m at right around 210 x 20. No idea of what a 3RM or 1RM looks like with those right now.

Anyway, I guess I’m in.

LoRez, unless you’re just really good with high reps, you probably already have the 315 squat.

Can we add a 315 bench too? If so, I’m in.

315 x 1, and at 210 x 20 i agree that you’re probably there already! and sure, let’s add in bench too. i might get it before the other two lol

So… anyone going after a 315x1 OHP? Lol

Yeah, I just have no idea on the squats. We’ll see.

I down, I hit 330 for a triple on the DL a couple months ago. But my 1rm squat is 250, and I just started 531 BBB, so my squat won’t hit three wheels for like months or so. But none the less, I’ll keep it posted here

Just hit three plates on deadlift this weekend. I’m deloading squats and building back up, but was at 265 x 5. I’ve been lifting since April in the Starting Strength program. It hopefully won’t take long to get squat to three plates, and I’m hoping for four plates on deadlift eventually.

Hell yeah! I just have to hit a 225lb OHP first. Which is probably going to be over a year.

Yeah dude, I recently squatted 315x5 and I KNOW doing 210x20 would be absolute murder for me, even doing them breathing style. Granted, I mostly train squats at low-med rep ranges (and never insanity like 20 reps lol!) so maybe there’s a difference, but I’m rather confident you could do 3 plates for at least one good solid rep.

Well, I just finished testing my max squat and was a little disappointed. I was doing 240 x 5 at the end of May so I was hoping for around 270 x 1 at the least. Needless to say, ignoring heavy squats for two months hurt me. I could only get 240 to just below parallel. I did 260, but it was definitely high. So, I’ll be using 240 as my max going into 531. I will be testing the other three maxes this week as well.

I’m in.

Tested the deadlift today and will be using 285 going into 531. I couldn’t quite lock out with 305. OHP tomorrow then starting BBB Monday!

I’m in for a 315X1 front squat. Anyway up for a race to it? I need to front squat 55 more pounds to get to it.

I’m in! I did 220x5 the other day… 1RM most likely around 250 - 65 pounds to go.

Cool, so we have a race! I have hit 225X6 with a 3 second pause before. My quads just MIGHT be slow twitch dominant.

I’m in

…and i win

Just did deadlifts for the first time in training since October 2011. Been awhile.

I hit 305 for 1. It took me 3 tries, but I got it.

Where’s Reed?

haha I’ve got the dead but I lost the squat when I lost a couple pounds recently. I’m in to get it back. Sitting at 225X3 most recently, should move quick

If you’ve already won, you can race me to a 405 x 10 deadlift (no straps).

Good job, Lorez. Did you happen to get it on video? I would love to see it.
