Good job, LoRez. Did you happen to get it on video? I would love to see it. :)
Thanks, but nope, no video. 305x1 is something like a 110lb PR. Which, I guess isn’t too bad for not having touched it for a few years.

I don’t think I’ve ever hit a heavy deadlift single after missing it once, let alone twice. I did happen to hit an OHP PR last year on my 3rd try though.

If you’ve already won, you can race me to a 405 x 10 deadlift (no straps).
Is this a real challenge you’re doing? I’ve never hit 405 for max reps, but I’ve hit 365 for 15 I think. My guess is I’d probably tap out around 8 right now. I’ll try it tonight.

Man, time flies. I remember being in one of these a while back and now I’m chasing a 455 pull and a 405 squat. Keep the faith guys! One day 315 will be a warmup.

Deadstop or touch and go?
I can race you to 405x5 LOL

Ish. It was from a T-Nation article (Deadlift Challenge: 405 x 10) and I figured I was close enough to give it a shot sometime within the next few months.

That’s pretty close. I did 177.5kg (=391lbs) x 11 last week, but with straps on the last 3 reps, so I think I could probably get about 7 without straps.

As far as TnG vs deadstop, I don’t really care lol. I’m doing deadstop, but it doesn’t really matter because it’s an accomplishment whichever way you get it.

I did this deadstop last night, no straps. Got to 5, and probably could have gotten an ugly 7, but since I wasn’t going to hit 10 for sure, went ahead and stopped the set. THE RACE IS ON

I don’t pull conventional but you can DL and I’ll snatch DL with straps haha

Alrighty, time for my update:

Today was 5/3/1+ day for the deadlift, and the weight coincidentally just happened to be 185kg (408lbs). I managed 8 reps without straps, then threw in a 15s rest/pause while I put on straps, and ground out another rep.

Very happy with my performance today (yes, I know I programmed my DL training max a little low lol). At this rate I should be able to hit it in 1-2 mesocycles.

Bump.

Besides Apoklyps and Flip and me, is anyone from this thread even on this site anymore?

Does anyone else want in?

I’m a couple months or so away from a 315 squat. Turns out 20-rep squats don’t translate at all to singles.

Hah sure, I’ll be in. Deadlift stagnated and I kind of quit deadlifting for awhile, so we’ll see when I get around to that 405 x 10. Been focusing on other goals. Bench is up to probably 275ish (my best guess), so it’s slow, but it’s coming. I want to get 315+ in comp by November. I’ve been rebuilding my squat from the ground up, working on high bar squatting exclusively for awhile, so I’ll be in on that for 5 x 5 x 315 high bar. I did 7 x 5 x 130kg last Friday.

in for deadlift.

sorry bud, I’m still on my cut. I was going to transition off, but pulled a hamstring, so I’m cutting for at least another month.

I will be in. I have an end of year goal of 1000 lb total from my 5RMs. How do we do this? Give a month to month progress update?

I have no idea. Just updating whenever you get a PR should work.

I’ll still be updating things in the normal PRs thread though.

I guess this thread is sort of “I’m working toward a 315-based goal and here’s my progress”.

My deadlift should be above 315 by now. My bench isn’t at 225 yet. But my squat has a bit of time to get there.

315 rep PRs can go in here too.

Ugh… switching units on me. Have to pull out the calculator, lol.

(It’s 286 for anyone else wondering.)

Yeah, I am pretty low right now myself. Started low and moving slow on purpose to try to accumulate a base for a little while. Work sets today will be 220x5x5 squat, 175x5x5 bench, and 270x5 dead. So I still have a long, long way to go.

Or you could join a PL fed (e.g. IPF) that uses kgs. You get used to them FAST. I used to hate kgs, but I’ve gotten used to them quickly and don’t really need to convert between lbs and kgs anymore. The joys of being bilingual lol.

To make things nice and confusing, my gym has both lb and kg plates.

Well, so much for the race to 315 deadlift part. Just did 315 for 3, dead-stop. And 335 for 1.

Lorez, I call absolute BS on your 210lbs squat for 20 reps.

Just absolute heinous horseshit
