Isn’t he also drug free? I think I saw it mentioned somewhere.
505 Pound Incline Bench! - YouTube
I believe he advertises himself as a drug free lifter but that he failed a drug test in the past. Not taking anything away from the man he’s an awesome lifter and a seriously motivational dude it’s just not realistic to believe that the second heaviest raw competition bencher in history would be drug free. Jim Williams is one of very few freakish human beings whose upper body development and nonsensical brute force bench power reminds me of Kaz.

Please elaborate.

Makes sense. Looked up Jim Williams and can definitely see why you made the comparison to Kaz.
I’m lightly toasted, does that count?

Do I really need to? Have you witnessed a football team lifting weights? You will never convince me that the strongest guys in the world are actually the ones doing powerlifting competitions. It’s a niche sport that attracts mainly white people.

I won’t be an asshole I’ll just say yes I’ve seen a football team lift weights it taught me that a lot of guys who want to be lazy will fall back on the “he’s black so he’s a better athlete so why should I try” excuse.
I think too often people just believe that blacks have inherently superior genetics for strength and speed as opposed to examining specifics within the sports they are disproportionately successful inside of ie. sprinting, football, basketball while there are. Different ethnic groups have different advantages, this, coupled with social identity and cultural connection I believe tends to shape certain groups interests and success in sports.
It becomes a more interesting issue when you talk to black athletes about how they view all the freaks at the top of powerlifting/Oly lifting/Strongman you might be surprised how quickly it becomes a question of ethnicity and ignored are questions of specific knowledge and hard work. I’m sure a huge number of guys in the NFL right now could walk in and be great powerlifters, I’m also sure a number of powerlifters/Oly Lifters/Strongmen, had they gone a different route could easily be in the NFL. I’ve seen a large number of guys primarily in football who have incredibly impressive strength genetics but I’ve never seen one I would ever believe even with a lifetime of training, drugs and focus could out-strict press Zydrunas, outpull Benni Magnusson or be Ed Coan.
I believe It’s also an overwhelmingly American phenomenon that it’s just accepted that blacks have these magic genetics that are somehow better for every sport. I personally believe it’s more an excuse not to work hard than a legitimate evaluation of genetic ability, I’m not ignoring genetic differences blacks simply tend to have better levers and genetics for certain sports, I don’t think there will ever be a white/asian/hispanic or non black Fastest man alive for a while unless a real genetic freak anomaly appears but by the same token I don’t think there will be a black world’s strongest man or total record holder or Strongest man Alive (oly lifting title I think?) because those sports attract those with effective genetics and cultural connection to them ie. Russians, Icelanders, Iranians etc.
Guys…can I play?
No - you stay back in the BB Forum hahaha!
Seriously - stupid thread. Look at videos on first page. Nuff said. Case closed. I have to suffer to not-so-subtle racist comments from Republican presidential candidates on TV…I don’t want shit like that on my powerlifting forums as well…
LOL.
LOL indeed.
So if I buy like thirty black sharpies, I’m on my way to the NFL, right?
Wait…
wut?
