I’ve been doing some thinking, and I came across something kind of weird: there are hardly any well-known black powerlifters. The only one I could name off the top of my head is Johnny Jackson.
Is this because of genetics? Are they just more genetically suited for bodybuilding? Look at all the black bodybuilders.
Phil Heath
Ronnie Coleman
Flex Wheeler
Dexter Jackson
Chris Cormier
Just to name a few. I found this kind of interesting.
lamar gant anyone? tony conyers, gene bell, joe morrow. not quite powerlifter but mark felix. if you look at any vintage footage there are plenty of black powerlifters just like there are from every ethnicity worldwide. it’s a small sport, you don’t hear much about it unless you actively keep up on things.
John Gamble PLer & Strongman.
Anthony Clark
Gene Bell
Mike Francis
Anthony Conyers
Mark Henry
Anthony Harris
Dave Ricks
James Henderson
Walter Thomas
Cutis Leslie
