Not sure which Olympia in particular, but I do remember him being the only competitor who really gave Yates pause in the front shots. Side and back poses really told a different story though.

At least nasser’s bi’s were symmetrical STU GET IT TOGETHER!
this isn’t 'nam… there are rules[/quote]
Hate to say it but Dorian (in some front poses at least) in 97 (derp) reminds me of Greg Kovacs with his biceps ripped in half haha
people talk about nasser’s oil when phil heath is pretty much one big synthol balloon
everything goes at the top level
nasser’s front has yates completely destroyed
personally I prefer hard wired physiques to the fake 3d shape but give the man his due
Sad news. He was the first pro I ever saw in person and I HAD to have his autograph after reading about him in the magazines (before the spread of this internet thing) for many years. He was nice enough and seeing him in person blew me away at the size of a human being could get to.
Fast forward to now and I hope others can learn from this early exit (even look at that Kris Dim video recently posted) and perhaps make some more sound decisions about their supplement career. Yes, yolo…its a real mess.

Met him when he came down to Australia in 1994 or 1995. Nice dude and like others have said seemed super-smart.
Haven’t read about him shitting on Greg Kovacs before, but all the other criticisms he made of pro bodybuilding that I’ve read rang true. Sure he might have been bitter - but that doesn’t mean he wasn’t hitting on the truth.

Nasser definitely won all the front shots and the side chest. Yates had great back poses and side triceps. By that alone it should have been 4-3 for Nasser in the mandatories. On top of that, Nasser had better overall conditioning. Other than 2001, it was probably the biggest robbing in Olympia history.

It is truly a shame. Nasser, regardless of the politics and drama behind the scenes, was a stand up guy to his fans. I would run into in the gym constantly, and the man would go out of his way to follow me around and work with my physique, suggesting movements and critiquing poses. We met up several times to discuss things. Actually, A couple weeks ago, he was offering to train me (including ‘usage,’ Though i ultimately declined that). I for one am very sad to see him go.

I actually remembered how you wrote that in one of your log’s from awhile ago. That must of been so cool getting tips from an IFBB pro like that.

He reminds me of my bodybuilding friend who likes to walk around at 5’ 10’’ & 250lbs with visible abs, all the while sporting the specs as well. Respect to those who choose to be big AND lean.

lol… i dont think being big AND lean is really a “choice” per se… moreso…a level of development
im sure most would Choose to be big and lean, if they could
^ Good point. I guess it’s a “choice” to go all out rather than half ass it. Not all are presented with the opportunity, however, as you said.
I for one really think Nasser did a great job keeping his waistline trim while being pretty much gigantic otherwise… oil or no, his physique was ridiculous.

I never really appreciated the guy before, but wow, in that particular shot he wrecks Dorian.
Did he ever personally admit synthol use? I wouldn’t mind reading one of these candid interviews you guys have been talking about, but I’m guessing they probably can’t be linked here.
